The Bootroom: Your Weekends Are Back To Normal

That feeling you’ve got right now? (No, not the hangover) That’s the endorphins released by the excitement of having your universe righting itself because proper football is back. After yesterday’s glorious return of the Premier League (Chelsea’s cross-cum-goal, Arsenal’s curb-stomping of the Bitters, Villa looking rudder-less), the party continues with two more matches, as well as a slew of other games from around the globe.

Today sees Manchester United start their AR (After Ronaldo) era by welcoming Bongo FC to Old Trafford as Liverpool kick off their quest for the elusive #19 at White Hart Lane.

Owen and Valencia are eligible to make their proper home debuts. And just like everybody else, I’m just curious see to see how long it will take the diminuitive striker to injure himself.

As for my beloved Liverpool, they start their quest for the Premier League crown on the road, for the fifth consecutive season. One half of El Fantastico has a bum groin, so their full destructive power may not be on display. But, considering all the recent centerback injuries for both Spurs and LFC, clean-sheets may be hard to find today.

Take your shoes off, peruse the matches and make yourself at home after the jump.

Not a good day for Torres. This f**king sucks.

  2. spectator

    Oh Lucas, no shoving please.

  3. Moonshine Mike

Liverpool has been jobbed in the last 10 minutes.

  4. Not a good day for Torres because he had no f**king service or support.

    What a s**tty game.

  5. phil

COYS! Prob should have been a draw, if not for Dowd’s egregious non-call.

  6. Georger

Yeah he wasn’t getting many balls, but when he had it he was having a hard time staying on his feet. Not putting it on him in any way though.

  7. Precious Roy

    Dowd. Bad.

  8. Lingering Bursitis

I wish an incurable case of anal fissures upon Phil Dowd and his entire mongoloid brood

  9. Georger

So would anyone be kind enough to take Babel off our hands for like five million pounds?

  10. Georger

“Voronin coming off the bench is always going to help you win games.”

    Quote of the day.

  11. Lingering Bursitis

Pretty ill-tempered game, all told. Several yellows, bleeding, self-inflicted injuries… sucks to lose Week 1 but hopefully this will make Rafa realize he needs some more players and a change of plan

  12. phil

2-3 of those yellows were pretty soft, though, LB, particularly the ones on BAE and Skrtel. And while it was a bit chippy, I think it was chippy in the right way. Guys were going hard after the ball, and tempers flared a couple times, but no one was taking cheap shots or diving or taunting. I think both sides played good hard football, and a well-earned draw was in the cards if not for an official’s mistake.

  13. Steve

Damn, glad to see the result but sorry I missed the game.

  14. Georger

God I f**king hate Mr. RedDevil. Seriously, cheering for the slot machine to not pay out. Just know there aren’t enough cocks to suck in Christendom that will fill the void in your soul.

    ;)

  15. Lingering Bursitis

PS. Anyone catch the PSV-Ajax game? I believe it ended 4-3 PSV

  16. Georger

Is there a better name than Balázs Dzsudzsák? No. There is not.

  17. phil

I tried to watch the PSV-Ajax match, btu the feed kept crapping out. Pretty sure that was the final, though.

  18. The Likely Lad

Just home from the pub. A lovely match. Just lovely. ‘Tis all. A lovely Sunday to you all!

  19. Georger

what an a**hole. David Bentley and Pavs count as ‘internationals’ you feel good about having on your bench, but Yossi is unproven? Good lord I despise that website.

  20. phil

That whole article is just f**king tripe. Keane was “bailed out” by BAE’s goal? Really? Who thinks that? I have a four letter word for the four letter network.

    F**k. You.

  21. teeknuts

Fuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkk. I knew I was right to have a bad feeling about this match.

  22. Lingering Bursitis

What’s hilarious is he omits all the guys currently injured

  23. Georger

Yeah. I mean the overall point is correct, it’s a thinner squad than last year when injuries were a problem, but his points to prove it are wrong.

Also, I’m sorry, but Spurs do not have a better squad than Liverpool, that’s asinine. And it makes losing to them, AGAIN, more painful.

  24. Georger

Oh wow the fourth official that sent of Sammy was the Phantom Goal official from last year! Good to see he’s still getting work…

  25. Lingering Bursitis

Dowd was dire today. Still, no excusing the result

  26. hadley

Liverpool going forward (Yossi excepted) were worse than Phil Dowd, who was very very bad.

  27. MrRedDevil

@Georger: I don’t know anything about sucking cock, so I’ll just defer to your expertise.

    ;)
