In less than 5 minutes, we’ll get La Liga on ESPN in HD as Barcelona kick off their domestic season against Sporting Gijon.
Yep, these truly are wonderful times we live in. I’d love to know what Tony “I Mock Soccer Except When the USA Does Something” Kornheiser reckons to his precious PTI getting bumped in the rotation to allow room for Iniesta and friends.
Let’s just hope Barca put on a better show than they did on Friday, eh?
Lineups and guff after the jump.
BARCELONA: Valdes – Maxwell, Pique, Puyol, Dani Alves – Keita, Sergi Busquets, Xavi – Ibrahimovic, Bojan, Pedrito.
SPORTING DE GIJON: Colinas – Canella, Gregory, Botia, Sastre – Michel, Diego Camacho – Gimenez, de las Cuevas – Rivera – Barral.

Not impressed so far. Spanish graphics and you could hear the Deportes guys talking under the English commentators.
Small things to complain about I suppose, it’s great football on basic cable, which is great.
Won’t be able to watch the game, but I hope ESPN does as good a job with La Liga as it does with EPL. Hey, look at the brightside – no Chelsea on ESPN!
I know that’s how you pronounce it, but the announcer sounds ridiculous when he says “Hee-honn”
I’ve been pronouncing it “Gee-john.” Better than “Gij-on” I suppose, but still massively wrong.
Krkic!
Left all alone, man on the near post keeps him easily onside
Zlatan and Special One sitting together in the stands?!? WTF?!?
Unrelated to this game but I hear that Spurs are about to sign Niko Kranjcar. I am not okay with this.
So I missed it, what exactly is Mourinho doing at the game?
And Goal!!!! Keita
Ibra is one ugly mf.
@Sarah – signing Niko sounds good to me! going to make our attacking options a little crowded, but he will be good cover until Modric comes back.
@Steve: I agree. He’s a very good signing, and a steal at 2.5 mil.
Problem is, I’m an Arsenal fan.
@Sarah – I know…but you guys already have a glut of talent and an entertaining manager, to boot. Have a feeling the derbies should be quite entertaining this year.
although I must add that ‘Arry has provided some priceless post-match entertainment himself. Nothing to top Wenger in the stands this past weekend, though.
Not watching the match, but this is a pretty impressive stat:
Time of Possession: 80% 20%
Guess which team has the 80%?
Wenger in the stands at OT was priceless.
Would love Kranjcar in the side. Hope it goes down.
What a brilliant ball from Xavi.
Get in, der Svedish Sulk
