And as for Evra, the punch was only one of the four charges, the others which he admitted to. And he could not prove his defense that there were any racial statements made.

Also, Chelsea got fined more than Evra did in that situation.

/Proper research.

At Old Trafford Craig Bellamy walked 20 yards towards the pitch invader who was already being restrained, and slapped him through the face - he got a warning. Clearly the FA are out to get City.

Basically, Adebayor has been fined about two days' wages (gasp) for nearly starting a riot. His "ban" is only activated if he does something stupid like this again, so as another poster said, it's useless.

Neville was ecstatic when his team (he is club captain, remember) scored the winner and he ran down the touchline to celebrate it, then THOUGHT for a second and stopped and turned back. He did not stand there taunting the fans. The two incidents are not the same, so why should the punishment be? I think Ade got off lightly.

Yes, the FA are inconsistent, but to say they favour United is pathetic and smacks of sheep-brained idiocy. United have also suffered from this inconsistency, as pointed out by Drabik. The "big four" probably do get the benefit of the doubt more often, but this sort of sensationalist conspiracy theory crap is almost painful to read.

How do the FA favour united? Adebayor almost caused a riot (partly Arsenal fans fault). Of course people forget that Neville is not the only one to celebrate a goal in front of away fans in that game - Shay Given turned round to united fans to celebrate the equalizer.

What about the Rio Ferdinand missing drugs test? A Manchester City player also missed a mandatory drugs test at about the same time, but was he banned for months and months and fined ridiculous amounts? No? Surely if the FA favours United then this is a bad decision?

What about suspending Evra for 3 games for punching a Chelsea groundstaff, despite having no evidence whatsoever that Evra even threw a punch.

People may believe the FA favour United, but thats probably just to cloud the fact that Manchester United are the most successful team in recent years. The reason is not the FA, it is Sir Alex Ferguson.

How about you do proper research, and not write cliches with no evidence to back it up.

gary did get fined a couple years ago for celebrating in front of liverpool fans. refs do seem to give United, along with the rest of the b4, some unfair advantage but the FA often rules against United unfairly in situations like this. the real question you should be asking is why it was okay for thierry henry to do this same celebration to spurs fans a few years ago but now adebayor must pay a price for it. the FA is wildly inconsistent but this was a poor example to use.

in truth, fans really need to put on their big girl panties and not flip out when players do stuff like this, since the fans dish out abuse all day long and then act indignant when a little of it comes back to them.

Don't think there was, but considering that was in front of the United players and not taunting the fans as both Adebayor and Neville did, I have no f**king clue what your point is.

Though Fowler did get suspended for his goal line snorting celebration, and the homophobic one ... so yeah, a Liverpool player getting suspended really does a lot to prove the point that ... wait what was your point?
