Seems the reports last week of Italian captain Fabio Cannavaro’s positive doping test were incomplete. Cannavaro did test positive, but claimed he had a doctor’s note for emergency treatment of a bee sting. Turns out the Italian Olympic Committee and the national doping tribunal both agreed and the defender has been cleared to play.
Cannavaro’s club, Juventus, failed to file all documents necessary for the exemption application. Paperwork–it’s the new the dog ate my homework. This oversight now has Cannavaro slighting his club. “This time there was stupidity on Juve’s part but it all seems exaggerated to me,” said the Italian defender. Careful, this is the club that started all the calciopoli scandal a few years back…they know people.
