Let the muckraking begin

We received this in the ol’ inbox last week, presumably the first trailer for a documentary looking at next summer’s World Cup through a rather Michael Moore-esque lens. FIFA is constantly proving itself to be crooked and money-hungry, and we suspect this analysis of South Africa from behind the glossy, PR-heavy spin of soccer’s ruling body should prove to ruffle a few feathers. Or merely tell us what we already thought to be true.

Either way, it seems to be worth a look.

Jamie Trecker and a few others were writing about this 2 or 3 years ago. It’s hard to imagine how a country with some many problems is going to profit from having the WC.

Sadly, they’ll profit, but with lots of things that won’t help fix the country’s problems. What are they gonna do with these 80,000 capacity stadia once the party leave town? So sad.

A Nobel Prize awaits the person who can figure out how to quickly and cheaply convert stadia to schools and hospitals.

Easy; just break up the stadium seating every now and then with a large desk and an overhead projector. Kids sit in stands and listen to teacher at field level. Repeat all the way around. Genius!
