Last night Manchester United beat Barnsley 2-0 in the league cup, but a place in the quarter final was not  all Man U fans left Oakwell with. A bad reputation, a night in the clink for some, money and food from the tuck shop for others.

7 people were arrested after several incidents in the ground and at the train station. Barnsley were not too pleased with the damage caused and some of the clubs staff had to hide in a storeroom when Mancs broke into the catering area… 

“It’s a hell of a mess down there. Doors have been kicked in, tills have been damaged and there’s food and drink everywhere. It looks like a swamp in one of the bars. A complaint has been made to the police and we will be taking a look at CCTV footage of the incident before we can comment further.”- Barnsley spokesman.

So what else happened? Well 2 ‘fans’ were arrested for jumping onto the train tracks to delay the Barnsley to Sheffield train. 4 United ‘fans’ were nicked for public disorder offences, missile throwing and theft at the ground and 3 Barnsley ‘fans’ were pinched for running onto the pitch.

And here I was thinking that football had evolved beyond the dark ages. Pathetic. Lets add Barnsley and Manchester United to hall of shame with West ham and Millwall. These idiots really are doing all they can to spoil England’s chances of hosting a World Cup in 2018.
