Quick Throw: Brown Might Be Out at Hull [Update]

Reporting news before it happens we are. But this came across the Twitter…

footballandy Think Phil Brown has left Hull. To be confirmed though…15 minutes ago from TwitterBerry.

Probably related to this and their current residency at the 18th spot in the table.

Update: Someone else seems to think so too. (And we’d have a chuckle if Brown’s firing was first outed on Twitter after the fine he issued Jozy for Tweeting his apology over the weekend).

How many warning signs does the PL need about its teams’ financial health?

I don’t recall them spending any large amount money last year on transfers last season, or am I forgetting something.

How did they lose 10 million last year?

    Where did the money go?

    Two words, knoc:

    Spray.

    Tan.

Knoc: Jimmy Bullard cost a pretty penny for his 37 seconds of Tiger glory.

  12. Bullard was “only” a 4 million transfer fee.

Bullard cost 5 mil. That is hardly crazy spending.
Giovanni was a free transfer from what I remember.

I just remember them spending a few mil here and there, but mostly loan deals largely. Maybe that adds up to the 15-20 mil range.

But considering they barely spent last season while gaining promotion, they shouldn’t have lost 10 mil last year. It isn’t like they went out and spent big money on players and drove up their wage bill.

And shouldn’t be 23 mil in debt this year.

Are they a team with a heavy debt or something? Again it just doesn’t add up.

Army: Per the Beeb, it was 5MM pounds and Hull’s record signing.

Hull has released an official statement denying the reports.

“Contrary to media speculation the club can confirm that Phil Brown has not been sacked and remains the manager of Hull City Football Club.”

And by the way, those clubs accounts that’s been referenced only cover to the end of their last Championship season, though I could still see them being in trouble.

Headline really doesn’t fit the article. Club statement says he’s the manager, headline almost suggests he’s only the manager until after they lose to Burnley.

  17. Oops. But really, what is a million pounds in the modern game any way! :)
