South Africa, no its not is it.
How do you prepare for a World Cup on your home turf if you are South Africa? You go to Brazil and Germany of course.
Bafana Bafana have decided to hold 4 training camps abroad next April before the start of the World Cup in June. They will train for FOUR weeks in Brazil and two weeks in Germany. The team will also fly to Chile and Jamaica for friendlies.
Now, I’m not a coach but surely being able to train at the host stadiums and in the country that you are playing in would be useful? Call me crazy, especially when the season in South Africa is ending early to allow new coach Carlos Alberto Parreira time to prepare for the tournament to make sure that South Africa don’t get booted from their big party with a whimper.
Bafana Bafana have been a bit, well…Crap recently and just re-appointed Parreira as manager after Joel Santana had them on a terrible run of 8 defeats in 9 games.
Right, I have a driving test later, I’m off for a bike ride.

Maybe the four week trip to Brazil has something to do with the coach being Brazilian. I don’t know. It can’t hurt to play some friendlies against some quality Brazilian and German club sides.
No friendlies, just training camp and the trip was booked before Parreira took over the team.
It is warmer in Brasil. But that won’t help them play in the cold in South Africa. Beats the hell out of me.
Boy, it’s a good thing this team gets a seed in the draw. Cripes.
