Turkish Gus Johnson Is Clearly A Gooner

For about 40 minutes on Saturday, Tottenham might have been marginally better than an inexplicably tentative Arsenal squad. Then it was all undone in about 90 seconds, about 80 of which were used in celebration. In fact the camera crews were so unaware of Spurs’ potential ineptness they barely caught the tail end of Fabregas’ follow-up to RvP’s opening strike.

We post this not to pile on Spurs.

Ah, I almost held a straight face for that one (okay, this would be piling on).

Still the real reason for this video recap is the announcer. That kind of enthusiasm is nothing short of awesome. Can I get this guy to do a play-by-play on the next time I hook up? He can even call me “Maradoneeya Fabregas”. Like the girl would have any idea what he’s saying anyway.

My son had a great reaction to Fab’s goal… after watching the replay he said “That looks like a goal you’d score in FIFA on Beginner mode.”

In a related story, my 7-year-old has come within a field goal of beating me in Madden 10.

    The commentary is completely insane.

I really can’t make fun of the commentary, seeing as I went just as mental. And was probably just as understandable too…although in my defense, it was far too early to be up on a Saturday. I’m always incoherent before noon.

Where does that rank in terms of Gooner-Spurs goals?

Yes, we were made aware of the fact that it wasn’t Turkish a couple of months ago. We kept it as is because we’re not really anal about misidentifying languages. No offense to people who speak Arabic or Turkish. The post is about the ridiculous enthusiasm of the announcer. That and Arsenal putting a beatdown on their north London Rivals. But glad you found us. If you’re a football fan, please have a look around. If not, still have a look around.
