Quick Throw: Americanization of Arsenal Is At Hand

Stan Kroenke bought more shares of Arsenal. His stake is now at 29.9%, just shy of the magic 29.99% at which he is required to make an offer for the remaining shares. Interestingly, half of the 200 shares he picked up came from club chairman Peter Hill-Wood.

If I’ve got this correct, Kroenke doesn’t actually have to take over the club, he just has to make an offer. With former MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis now the Chief Executive at Arsenal, it would seem North London is becoming all American and s**t… only Gazidis is actually South African.

    OOO-SAH, OOO-SAH

  2. Where Arsenal are coming under a “sensible” kind of “American”, Liverpool are stuck with their George W Bushian “Merikan” owners.
    *sigh*

as a resident of Denver, I am exceptionally excited about this development. My hope is that Kroneke shows AW a map, says, “see, Denver has mountains, come and train in my beautiful Dick Park with our nice facilities, high elevation and ridiculous summer heat” and he’ll get on the US bandwagon. Plus, they can play my co-ed team in scrimages!

“Plus, they can play my co-ed team in scrimages!”

And lose Eduardo, Rosicky, and the Magic Pixie for 6 months with groin injuries.

if there’s one thing our girls offer, it’s incredible conditioning which enables us to play a fairly wide game. As the central midfield enforcer, I wouldn’t give those little s**ts time on the ball, that’s for sure.
