As if Pompey didn’t have enough on their plate. These days NO ONE knows who really owns them, they have no cash to spend on new players, they are in serious trouble at the bottom of the Premier League and nowtheir Chief Executive has been nabbed for tax evasion over the fee paid to former player Amdy Faye. The Police have been trying to nail a conviction over the Faye signing for a couple of years now and even raided former manager Harry Redknapps house a while back. A move that cost them 1000 pounds in damages as the raid was deemed unlawful by a judge.
Faye moved from Auxerre to Pompey in 2003 and cops say that his signing on fee of 250,000 UK Pounds was paid directly to Faye without being subject to National Insurance and tax. All this effort over tax on a footballer’s sweetner? Haven’t the cops got anything better to do?
Faye currently plays for Stoke City.
