Let’s Get Ready To Rumble

The Elizabeth Lambert Soccer School looks to be the newest soccer training rage sweeping the country. This past weekend provided further evidence of her acolytes infiltrating the soccer world as two girls high school soccer teams mixed it up in the Providence Division IV girls soccer championship game.

The Woonsocket Villa Novans (get it?) led the Tolman Tigers 5-0 in the closing minutes of the championship game. That was just the undercard as Tigers player Maria Lopera had enough after being bumped to the ground by Novan Kristen Cahill (figures it’s a Cahill). The two engaged in some friendly shoving that quickly devolved into full on fisticuffs. The benches cleared and then match was called.

Reports indicate there was some Lambert-esque hair pulling, although it seems these ladies are not as skilled as their mentor since they got caught.

That was not the end of it though. During the awards ceremonies, the fans of the two schools wanted to show who had the best firm and managed to start a brawl in the stands. Looks like Rhode Island has its own West Ham and Millwall now.

    A couple of things here:

    1) FAGNANT? Really? Is there a better surname in America currently?

    2) I love the guy with the yellow EVENT STAFF windbreaker on watching the fight in the stands ever-so nonchalantly.

Yet another reason not to ref high school games.

I love the stock photo of the ref administering a red card. He looks so humorously diabolical. I bet he would have put a quick end to those shenanigans if he was in charge of that game.
