Didier Drogba Memorial Hospital

I want YOU to donate too!

I want YOU to donate too!

While such a headline could be used to poke fun at Mr. Drogba, king of the on-field death rattle, today we laud him for his selflessness.

Drogba recently inked a $5 million endorsement deal with Pepsi. Unlike most modern sports pros who take the cash to line their pockets, Drogba seems to have a use for the money. He has pledged that the money will go to building a modern hospital in Abidjan, his hometown in Côte d’Ivoire. It seems that a photo op trip to a local hospital last year alerted him to the shocking state of his home country’s facilities.

For Didier it came down to the fact that it wasn’t tough-to-cure diseases that were felling many of his countrymen, but easy-enough-to-maintain-with-money stuff like diabetes. Drogba has also coerced Roman Abramovich to lay off building the world’s next most-grandest yacht ever and join the Ivorian in the project.

Damn, that’s two Spartak Moscow-ites doing a good deed, and that makes my head hurt. Can someone please catch John Terry parking in handicap spaces again so my world will revert back to its proper axis? Thanks.

    Good for Drogba. I can’t say anything negative, as much as I’d like to. People not getting the services they need is, to quote the man himself, “a disgrace, a f**king disgrace.”

  2. Georger

    You’d think with all that ivory the country could afford to build a f**king hospital. Plus they’re on a coast, I mean that’s gotta be good for tourism.

    His primary concern: seizures. He was nearly killed by one just last weekend.

    He’s still a disgrace, but now I hate him less.

    BTW, I really adore the absolutely no-class douchebags who aren’t able, at the very least, to lay off the man when he does something good for other people in the real world.

    @Anonsters

    Good on you Drogba. Sincerely.

    There. Happy? Douchebag. Lighten the f**k up.

  11. Well as much as I dislike the man I’m very impressed that he did this. Really selfless.

    HL: Actually, I would have been perfectly happy for people to keep their (internet) pie-holes (figuratively) f**king shut.
