Am I writing this from the year 2019 as Wayne Rooney comes to the end of his career? Or maybe Southampton’s mega rich owner Markus Liebherr has decided that Wayne is the man to fire them back to the EPL from League One, making an incredible bid of 130 million pounds and putting the Manchester United forward on 300k a week?
If he's as half as good as his brother..Oh boy.
Well Rooney COULD be joining Southampton, but not Wayne. Little brother John is having a super season for Macclesfield, in his first year as a pro and the ‘Rooney in the shadows’ is attracting some attention.
Apparently Alan Pardew has been told that the ‘Silkmen’ want 500,000 ukp for Rooney mark 2 after some impressive performances. John is not a forward like his brother but a midfielder with an eye for goal. He made his debut in March and scored 2 goals at the end of last season.
This season he has made 7 appearances, scoring once. But does the younger Rooney have a hot head like his sibling? One yellow card this season would suggest not.
John, who still 18 years old, is expected to turn out to be quite a player although he hasn’t made any international appearances yet. Talking of which, he is actually eligible to play for Ireland. I am sure his big brother will have something to say about that.

They’re both simians?
“If he’s as half as good as his brother”
He’ll be 55 percent as good as Dirk Kuyt?
@Georger. I really hope you dont believe that. If you did, that would be a real shame. It would inspire football pity.
I don’t need your pity, but I could use like twenty bucks.
And no I don’t believe that, I knew it would irritate you though.
I just screwed up a 20 and chucked in it the bin
Will England’s Dirk Kuyt’s little brother be massively overhyped like his ogre older brother?
Overhyped? Wow. I’d say he is under appreciated. Folks like you can’t appreciate that he comes to the party and brings the booze, the prsents, the cups, the plates, makes the punch and hangs up the pinada.
How is a man fawned over by the English as their savior in international play not overhyped? England will not win the World Cup with Wayne Rooney. He’s more handsomely paid Dirk Kuyt. That is paid not more handsome in the superficial aesthetic since. The two are equally ugly.
There is a large chunk of people who think Rooney should win PotY over Messi. Laughable to suggest he’s underappreciated.
@Georger. People do not appreciate all he does in games, especially when he unselfishly creates for others and works like a dog. I have never seen a forward who can hold the ball, drop into the midfield and create, bolt past people/muscle defenders and play from wide. At just 23.
Dirk Kuyt can do one thing. He does it well, like most players who take to their roles but its still just one thing. Rooney is a game changer.
Yes, he does indeed change games, especially when he gets sent off and his team must adjust to playing with only 10 men.
Ha, you’d love to have him play for Liverpool. He has been sent off 4 times in 6 years. 4.
Gerrard? 3, Torres? 3.
and how many times has he had to be subbed off because it was obvious his temper was going to get him that second yellow? numerous.
the guy is just a tempestuous little kid still.
Rooney’s a mouthy child, and I want no part of him.
The only thing Torres couldn’t do at 23 on that list was play out wide, don’t think he’s ever really been put out there (that’s Robbie Keane’s job!).
“I have never seen a forward who can hold the ball, drop into the midfield and create, bolt past people/muscle defenders and play from wide.”
Emanuel Adebayor & Dimitar Berbatov come to mind…
…ha, I’m funny.
And Ned, I’ve seen plenty of forwards who could do that stuff. Cruyff’s at the top of the list
It would be could if he could join Saints, I doubt it but he might, I mean we had Bradley Wright Phillips last season and he was well crap for us really, not as good as his brother Shaun.
