Can They Give Fans Back their Time (or Dignity), Too?

These Colors Don't Run... or Pass, or Score, or Defend
These Colors Don't Run... or Pass, or Score, or Defend

Goal sieve Wigan Athletic players might have been piss poor on the weekend, allowing nine (count ‘em nine) goals against Tottenham, and now they are a little money poor(er) to go with that.

The FA fined them for crimes against humanity for the suffering they caused fans by their display or lack thereof.

Just kidding.

Actually, the Wigan players have manned up and are compensating their traveling fans for the pain and suffering they endured, as the players have taken it upon themselves repay fans the money paid for tickets to the absolute destruction of the Lactics at White Hart Lane.

While we applaud the boldness of this move. We laugh at the shortsightedness. That team is capable of allowing nine goals again to an actual legit Premier League side. So this might be come a costly precedent for the Wigan players to set.

Perhaps they’d have been better served enlisting the services of that sturdy-looking tree in central defense instead of Titus Bramble.

Seriously though, Wigan are insane. 10 of their starting XI yesterday were in the lineup that beat Chelsea 3-1. Is Nelson Figueroa, aka “The One Who Missed The Game Where Wigan Get Thrashed 9-1″, really that valuable?

  • hadley says:

Meanwhile, the Wigan ticket office is swamped with calls for away tickets to Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

  • Keith says:

You’re thinking Maynor Figueroa. Nelson Figueroa is a pitcher for the Mets.

  • James T says:

    Yeah, Maynor. That’s the one.

Maybe we need to do “Better Know a Figueroa” around here… especially after the rampant triumph that was “Better Know a Traore”

  • Keith says:

And I also think the Wigan defenders were blinded by Paul Scharner’s “home and away.”
