Darren Bent announced via Twitter that his mum was racially abused at the Wigan game. Police have since made an arrest.
And in Italy, Cagliari have been fined 10,000 Euros for singing racist songs at Juve midfielder Momo Sissoko, this coming just a week after Juventus was fined 20,000 Euros for singing an offensive (but “not racist”) song about Inter’s Mario Balotelli.

Setting aside my unreasonable support for African football – the first WC I ever watched was in ’90, when Cameroon did that thing they do – I really REALLY want one of the African sides to knock Italy out.
Racism is one of the things I most hate, but arresting someone for it?
Personally, I like that it was a Sunderland fan chanting racist abuse. The guy plays FOR YOUR TEAM! The Italians and Spanish also have trouble recognizing this paradox, which proves what we all know, “racists are stupid.”
Although I’m sure this guy NEVER cheers a Darren Bent goal.
Enoooooooooough!!!!
Really…. other than the irish crying, this has to be the most annoying topic and the Juve fine was the stupidest: fined because they made fun of a player who wasnt even playing against them that day.
Tell me, if Landon Donovan is the target of the famous “If you jump, Donovan dies.” would Juve have been fined?
Or does the player have to be based in europe?
So would “If you jump, Henry dies.” be worth a fine because you know,,,he’s black?
You PCers are sucking the fun out of football.
