What Ned & I Did This Morning

Landon, and a Ray Romano type

Landon, and a Ray Romano type

Well… our surprise?

Sadly, it has nothing to do with Charlize Theron in various states of undress, but we did get to sit down (well, more like stand next to, as this excitable Ray Romano lookalike is demonstrating) with Landon Donovan for a little private Q&A session timed nicely to coincide with the unveiling of the new Soccer Store at Niketown in NYC. Ned and I had four minutes with the man who shall lead the USMNT into next summer’s World Cup, and he was more than happy to chat about whatever we wanted. Video and a blogsclusive interview will be up on Monday.

Many thanks to our friends/Valentines at Kickette for getting us in the door… I’d like to think we handled our business from there. Oh, and Ned even designed a UF soccer shoe! All this and more on Monday.

Do I get a prize for correctly guessing a Landon Donovan interview?

  2. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:51 James T says:

No. And your WC Group predictions were horrendous as well.

  3. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:52 Keith says:

Blame Excel for that crap, but I did get a handful of pairs and trios right.

  4. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:55 James T says:

Still, Keith, I must condemn you to not winning anything. Just like Aston Villa!

  5. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:56 MCR says:

Well, this is better than Ms. Theron, after her showing as the hostess. What a bimbo.

  6. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:58 MCR says:

Also, will there be a blog-mention for the worst performer in the pick-off?

  7. On December 04, 2009 @ 15:58 James T says:

MCR: there might well have to be.

I’d say that NRC is on track to match Stevie G for “trophies captained,” but unless Petrov gets suspended for the CC final, he’ll stay behind by a whole ONE (yes, jjf, I’m looking past Blackburn, even though we play you FIVE times this campaign)

And yes, I know CL>>>>>Peace Cup and FA Cup >>>>>>>>> CC

Keith, it’s OK. JT condemns you to not winning anything, like Villa, and he condemns himself to being classless, like Liverpool….

    Wut? :D

  13. On December 04, 2009 @ 16:13 Keith says:

and I condemn you to being overconfident too early, like Spurs, Anons

  14. On December 04, 2009 @ 16:15 Anonsters says:

Well, Keith, you may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

My shoe is awesome. AWESOME. I chated Beckham with Landy Cakes, yep, went there!

Please, please, please tell me you asked him something along the lines of “When Conor Casey lines up next to you, do you sometimes wish you’d been born in Mexico?”

  17. On December 04, 2009 @ 16:18 Anonsters says:

Ned: But did you call him Landy Cakes?

  18. On December 04, 2009 @ 16:18 Norfolk Ned says:

@Magnakai Alas no, but he did say he would like to play for Norwich one day….As we left he gave a hearty “GO NORWICH”. Most amusing.

@Anonsters. You’ll have to wait until Monday to find out!

Sellouts!! Ah, who am I kidding? I get personal emails from Landon keeping me abreast of the latest developments in the US’s World Cup bid. Congrats, guys. Hopefully you can get him to visit the site. He’d be the second most famous visitor after Georgie Bingham.
