Congratulations are in order for the University of North Carolina Tarheels women’s soccer team as the team wrapped up its second consecutive title with a 1-0 victory over the Stanford Cardinal on Sunday. It was the 21st overall title for the Tarheels. Jessica McDonald scored the lone goal in the third minute as the North Carolina defense earned its tenth shutout in the last eleven games. The defeat was Stanford’s sole loss the entire season.

The Men’s Final Four kicks off this weekend.
The mighty Zips of Akron invade the ACC orgy of North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Virginia. Akron is undefeated and untied on the season is looking to be the first team to win out in like 45 years or something. I saw them whip Michigan in Ann Arbor pretty bad earlier in the season and IMO they are the best team I’ve seen play in the seven years I’ve been watching college games in Ann Arbor.
They also have a dude with an awesome name. Anthony Ampaipitakwong.
As a Stanford grad, this makes me sad. I hate the ACC and everything it stands for (also true of SEC, Big 10, Big 12, and Big East). Sun Bowl though, bitches! Toby is going to wreck Oklahoma.
UNC Women’s soccer is just disgustingly dominant. The head coach is coming up on 700 wins with only 36 loses or something like that. Just insane.
