They’ve lost several key players and the manager still insists on making statements that don’t align with the results in the biggest matches.
Hey, Arsenal’s women are pretty much like the men. Need further proof? They are also trophyless.
The Arsenal women, who have dominated the women’s Premier League, lost 2-1 to Everton in the Premier League Cup yesterday. The loss came 12 minutes from the end of extra time after Arsenal had been reduced to 10 ladies in the 25th.
Despite going down, manager Tony Gervaise sounded much the victor: “People have been questioning us since we slipped up at Sunderland but today there was only one team that deserved to reach the final, and that was us.”
There was just the minor technicality of being outscored by the Toffettes.
Arsenal went a (wo)man down after goalkeeper Emma Byrne punched Everton striker (’strikee’ is more like it… amirite?) Natasha Dowie. Hey wait, fight. That doesn’t sound like the men at all. Great, so now the ladies are tougher than the guys.
