The Good, The Bad, The WTF

What a Durango Scorpion might look like
What a Durango Scorpion might look like

Alacranes de Durango, or Durango Scorpions to you and me, play in the second level of Mexican futbol.  That’s the most one can really derive from this babelfished Wikipedia page, except that the difference between their current home and away shirt is that the home one has green sleeves.  I can’t imagine how that really helps.

Actually, once you scroll down, you can see that the two current kits basically reverse the green and white areas between home and away.  The club did much the same in 2001, but the effect was–how do you say?–not so good.

Mercifully, whoever uploaded these pictures did so in a smaller size.  Nevertheless, you cannot hide from the awesome decision to put the badge on there, blown up and turned 45 degrees, right below the space that is occupied by the same badge.

You know what’s even better?  When the decision is made to reverse the colors and do it all over again.

Away?
Away?

The best part of this shirt is that I’m not even sure that it is legit.  The kitmaker is different and there is no sponsorship.  It is entirely possible that some ripoff artist took the time to switch the colors so he could make a quick peso or two from unsuspecting fans.  Or, alternately, sell it in Italy.

That sponsor is a lot of fun, though.  I cannot imagine just how “Queen” is pronounced in the local dialect.  Best I can guess, it’s stretched out to two, maybe three, syllables.  Also, that cow would presumably mean that Queen would deal with dairy products, but I imagine it to be much more fun–an abattoir.  That’s the type of advertising I can get behind.

Next week marks the 100th edition of this thing.  It will be a little different, with a lot more Good than Bad or WTF.  Get excited, would ya?
