The convoluted business partnership at Notts County has fallen apart. The BBC is reporting that Notts County’s owner Munto Finance has put the team on the market. They are also claiming they have ‘interested parties’, which includes an ownership team involving our lovely Sven-Goren Eriksson! Sven, along with managing director Peter Trembley are looking to attract investors to put a proper offer together. This will make for excellent theater in the coming months.
The first downside I can see is – if Sven is part owner, he can’t get huffy and leave, and they can’t easily fire him. Notts County will have to endure him for the coming years.
What a ridiculous state of affairs. Poor County fans. Just when they thought the good old days were coming back. This time next year they will be back to skint, mid table and just another team that gets mentioned in historical context once in a while. What a shame.
