Turnip King Threatens To Send Watford Into Receivership. Update Alert!

The 'Malicious'? Russo Brothers.
The 'Malicious'? Russo Brothers.

Former walk-away Chairman of Watford FC and salad king, Jimmy Russo, is refusing to budge an inch as the club nears administration.

Russo, who lent the club 4.8 million pounds via his salad company walked away from the club at the AGM on Wednesday night and immediately recalled the debt. As Russo knows, the club doesn’t have the money and is threatening to send the club into administration.

Russo says that he has tried to save the club on numerous occasions and that such moves have been rebuffed by the board, yet he and his brother have flat out rejected a 7.5 million pound rescue package offered by Watford shareholder, Lord Ashcroft.

“The Russos will not accept an offer that is on the table, which if they did accept they would be paid back their £4.88m…I am at a loss to understand what it is that is making them take this action. I’m starting to feel now that there must be something malicious about them. I am very annoyed because I think they are putting the whole club at risk. This is unnecessary, this can be prevented“. – Former manager and interim chairman Graham Taylor.

So Jimmy Russo tried to save the club but is about to ruin it as he refuses to take his money back?  That doesn’t make a lot of sense, something smells here no? Entering administration will mean a 10 point deduction for Watford and certain involvement in a Coca Cola Championship relegation battle.

Former owner and famous crooner, Elton John is being kept ‘informed’ of the goings on at Vicarage Road, it seems unlikely that he will stand by and watch the club he loves fall apart.

One thing is for sure, Watford fans must be very angry with Jimmy Russo and his brother Vince. To leave a club and supporters that you supposedly cared about only to initiate its downfall is a pretty low move. Therefore the UnprofessionalFoul inaugural ‘dick of the day’ award  goes to the salad chump, Jimmy Russo. Congratulations sir.

**********

The latest (according to the Guardian) is that Russo has decided to suspend his threat of legal action providing he has “an appointment with them.”

So he won’t destroy Watford today at least… But may do another day soon.
