Well I have asked Mr. Holden via Twitter if the rumours are true (no reply), but if you believe the Sun then the Houston Dynamo middy will be signing a 4 year deal at Blackburn Rovers on January 1.
The paper even has a (albeit short) quote from Holden (24), who was on just 35k a year in the MLS this year while USA team mate Landon Donovan bagged 900k.
“This is a big decision – I want to get it right.”
Such a move is great news for US Soccer fans, days after Donovan was loaned to Everton. Holden was born in Aberdeen before moving to Houston at ten years old, he became a US citizen in 2006-Suck it Scotland!

This would be a fantastic move for Stuart and for the USMNT. I have to hand it to the clus in England for taking an interest in US Players.
If this turns out to be true, I hope he does succeed along with Landon at Everton because this can only mean more opportunities for US players to gain meaningful experience outside of MLS.
All the best to Stuart.
It puts me in an awkward position. If I ask for the Holden jersey for Christmas…then i’m banking on the signing a whole week later.
Ask for a gift card instead.
As a Rovers, Dynamo, and USMNT fan, I’m filled with excitement and dread both. Seeing Stewie in a Rovers jersey would be freaking awesome, and I’ve seen a semi-cogent argument that he’d essentially be a replacement for MGP on the wing. I think you could make a better argument that he’d be the perennially-injured Dunn’s backup in the creative MF role, but regardless, his skills and creativity would be huge at Blackburn. My concerns are: Dynamo will be hurt by him leaving, but I can live with that. My greater fear is that BFS is a defense-first coach and Stewie might not get enough playing time this spring, which would then hurt the USMNT at the WC, which would suck royally.
I believe Stewie is more than talented enough to be starting at Rovers, I just worry about BFS not realizing that…
Just listened to Stewie on FFF, and it sounds like he’s leaving. Just not certain Blackburn is where to…
