Uzbekistan: Makin’ It Rain

I now understand the source of Borat’s hatred towards the Uzbeks. It’s not merely some ethnic conflict waged over history, but moreso that Uzbekistan appears to be rolling in money.

They have so much of it that they’re just giving it away – first, FC Bunyodkur reportedly paid Rivaldo 80,000 a week to play for them (he duly obliged), then they hired Zico as manager for four months on a tidy wage before offering failed Chelsea manager Luis Felipe Scolari even more money to manage the squad (an alleged 13m euros a year!), and now they’re throwing quick, dirty easy cash at superstars to come and lead half-pace training sessions at the club.

With several European leagues taking winter break, it presented the perfect opportunity, and who obliged? Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly donating his 600,000 euro fee to charity anyways, but decided to make the trip from Madrid to Zurich to Tashkent for some handshakes, photo ops, training and autographs.

Video after the jump. Nice work if you can get it, right?
