Goal Of The Year

FIFA have announced their ‘goal of the year’ and not many of you will be surprised to find out who scored it. Before I tell you who won, have a look at the top-ten featuring the likes of Nilmar, Torres, Iniesta and Ronaldo…

The winning goal was from the boot of Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese players stunning strike against Porto in the second-leg of the Champions League quarter final. Personally I think the effort from Wolfsburg’s Grafite was just outrageous and should have bagged the prize.

“It was incredible, a fantastic goal. If you asked me how to score a goal like that I wouldn’t be able to tell you”. -Cristiano Ronaldo.

  1. Definitely Grafite for me.

Agreed on Grafite’s goal. That was just insane control, both of himself and the ball.

    Either Grafite or Essien.

I say Grafite or Ronaldo, just because both had the audacity to even try to do what they did…..

Ronaldo can suck it, but the pace alone on that ball, at that distance is remarkable.

  6. Lennon's Eyebrow

I’ve gotta give it to Torres. The way he turned on that ball after chesting it away from goal, I still can’t figure out how physics let him score from that angle.

I guess I’m the only loser who really likes Landin’s goal so much. I’ve just always had a weakness for those mule-kick shots.

    But yeah, OK, Ronaldo.

Also: You know you watch way too much a whole lot of football when you realize you witnessed well over half of these goals live.
