Q: How do you know if you are a crap footballer?
A: You are loaned out… while already out on loan!
Brazilian flop Jo, real name Joao Alves de Assis Silva, has been loaned to Galatasaray in Turkey. The player was on a season long loan at Everton but they returned him to Manchester City and they wasted no time and immediately moved the striker on to the Turks.
Jo has not only been a disappointment on the pitch for David Moyes, he has been one off it too, leaving Merseyside without permission and returning to South America for Christmas. Everton suspended the player upon his return.
“A season-long loan deal for the player had been agreed between Everton and Manchester City in the summer, but this has been cut short”. – Everton statement.
Jo only scored 1 goal for Everton this season (in the League Cup) yet that won’t stop Galatasaray fans treating him like he’s the greatest goalscorer since Alfredo di Stefano. Remember how stunned Darius Vassell was when he stepped off the plane in Turkey to discover he was hot s**t? Thousands turned out to celebrate his arrival.
One could only imagine how they would behave should they ever get to to sign a half decent player, think of the chaos Ledley King or Marlon King would cause, let alone Rory Delap! Planes would likely be downed at the airport as fans practiced their long throws as a greeting, and the place would probably shut down to party for a month.
Jo was bought by Manchester City for the crazy fee of £18m during the summer of 2008 but failed to nail down a place in the team after a successful spell at CSKA Moscow. The Brazilian will join his fellow ex-Everton team mate Lucas Neill at the Istanbul club. The Australian defender joined Galatasaray last week for a fee thought to be in the region of £750k.

Upon first reading the caption for the picture, I thought it read “Jo has been sent a Turkey.” That’s Friday for ya.
Upon further thought, it might be safe to say that Galatasary have been sent a turkey.

Jo > Adu
Beware of Brazilian players who make their name in obscure, far-off leagues before hitting the big time in Europe.
CSKA Moscow isn’t exactly an irrelevant team
