Picture Of The Day

Today’s picture comes from Old Trafford and the pre-match demonstration against the Glazers ownership.

Yesterday James T mentioned the planned gathering and the intention to wear special ‘gold and green’ scarves representing the club United was formed from back in 1902 . They actually look more yellow than gold and just like Norwich fans, Talking of which my super Canaries won 1-0 today (with ten men) to go top of the league. GET IN! Picture after the jump.

Camon Norwich, er BOOO debt!

Small protests aside, Man United beat Hull 4-0, Rooney bagged them all to sent his side top of the Premier League today.

you guys putting up a bootroom for the US friendly tonight?

  2. jjf3

Just realized that the supporters group trying to buy Stirling Albion (mentioned in a post yesterday about going broke) was one of my first followers on twitter. Just now put 1 and 1 together…

    Anyone watching this abortion?

Apparently, I’m the only idiot subjecting myself to this. Frankly, I’m kind of happy. Our B/C team is having its ass handed to it. Bornstein, believe it or not, looks like the only one who can play.

Oh well, Ives is hinting on Twitter and on his blog that Davies may be back for the WC. Please, God, let it be true.

  5. jjf3

Sadly, yes. Me and GreenEggsandFulham/Andrew. But we’re mainly over on twitter…

I just got home and switched the game on to see Honduras’ third. Wow…just… wow. It is good for us to play these friendlies in a hostile anti-US stadium, though. You know, Los Angeles.

We might lose 5-0. Maybe I can melt down like Phil did earlier today.

  8. corky

I was excited to see Bedoya play. Well, scratch that thought.

  9. Ryan

Yikes, that bad huh? I just got back. Doesn’t sound like I missed a ton. How’d Findley look?

So, because I’m bored, and I know most of you guys didn’t watch, here’s the ratings (out of 10).

    Perkins – 4
Bornstein – 7 (the best US player)
Conrad – 1 (might have pushed himself out of the US WC squad)
    Marshall – 4
Wynne – 3 (did not connect one cross all night)
Kjlestan – 4 (how far has he fallen?)
Feilhaber – 5 (wish he was better)
Beckerman – 6 (not bad, why does he look so unnatural playing soccer?)
Rogers – 3 (move back to Holland, Robbie!)
Cunningham – 2 (didn’t even bother to run)
Findlay – 5 (tried hard, not a bad backup for Davies)

    Subs:
    Goodson – 6 (2nd best after Bornstein)
Pearce – 3 (in the best Sky Sports tradition, “anonymous”)
Bedoya – 4 (at least he tried)
    Casey – 4
Evans – 5 (nice free kick)
    McCarty – 5

So, Bornstein doesn’t suck. That’s what I’ve learned.

    Best moment of the game:

Bornstein immediately asked by a Honduran to trade jerseys after the game. I GUARANTEE that is the first time that’s ever happened.

  12. Ryan

It’s too bad Marcus Tracy had to pull out, I was interested to see if he could bring anything to the table as another possible replacement for CD.

  13. Ryan

Oh sorry, another question I just thought of: Who was the FSC play by play guy now that Bretos is at tWWL?

  14. corky

Absolutely agree, Ryan. From what I’ve heard, Tracy might actually be a target man/speed man hybrid and could even replace Jozy, who I’m pretty sure we will only see in mop-up minutes for Hull the rest of the season.

I wish Bradley had named Cameron to the team tonight — I’d like to see more of him.

  15. corky

    Mark Rogandino. Actually decent.

  16. corky

@Ryan. Mark Rogandino. The voice of WPS!

  17. jjf3

Bornstein looked like he didn’t actually suck. Beyond that, not sure I saw much other than a willingness to keep attacking, even if they were utterly ineffective in the process…

Oh, and all these US Soccer Bradley and USWNT commercials have me convinced that a) Bradley couldn’t get a bunch of 3-yr-olds excited/motivated, and b) maybe there’s a reason only the US recognizes the “MNT” that way…

  18. Ryan

So now what happens ahead of the February friendly with El Salvador? Does Bob just push forward with these same guys, or are there new players that could be available? The Mexican league has started back up already right?
