Landon’s Farewell to England (?) Bootroom

Smell you later, Engerland?

Well, today could, maybe, perhaps be Landon Donovan’s last game in England for a while. Or it could maybe not. Who knows?  No one, that’s who.

But what we do know is that Landon Donovan and his merry Merseysiders travel to Birmingham today. The early game sees Spurs try their bestest to hold on to fourth place as they host Blackburn Rovers. And the late game is Hull against Arsenal, with Cesc once again on the sidelines just like during Spitgate ’09. Wonder if he’ll be wearing a puffy coat?

Fixtures and your comments after the hop.

  1. Eladio

How does Bendtner get a card there?

  2. wacman1389

So Bendy gets a yellow for what exactly?

  3. oh Pixie, you’re breaking our hearts

  4. Omar

dammit how does nikki get a yellow? hes the one that got poked!!!! i dont understand

  5. “[U]nless it’s Chelsea or Man U we can’t be beat legitimately in the league”

“Arsenal has the greatest attacking force in soccer”

No…that is real comedy. Or, maybe just delusion.

The blinkers of the Gooner crowd know no bounds.

  6. ebullientfatalist

Clichy shows class by not appealing for a penno, when it could’ve been a penno.

  7. Omar

ive said it before. and ill say it again. i love tommy v

  8. wacman1389

lol Clichy tries to not win a pen…..which is as much of a pen as the one that got rewarded

  9. Eladio

TFA: Arsenal is also going to cure cancer and come up with a way to put metal in a microwave. Don’t doubt us!

  10. jgaugust

God damn I f**king hate Hull. I want us to score 4 in the 2nd half and just blow them the hell out of the water.

  11. ebullientfatalist

    I called it!

  12. Highbury Library

    RED! F**K YOU ASSHOLE!

  13. Eladio

    YES. About time you f**kers.

  14. jgaugust

That’s f**king right Boateng. Get the hell off the damn pitch. Hope Sagna is ok.

  15. “All I’m saying is that whenever we drop points against anyone else, there’s some bit of controversy….Like the draw at West Ham, with Carlton Cole going down like a sack of spuds”

I suspect that whenever the Gooners feel like they should have gotten full points but don’t, a controversy is created regardless of whether there is or is not a reason.

  16. Eladio

Right up on the knee…what a f**king disgrace. Keep your f**king boots down!

  17. Omar

    farewell boateng you prick

  18. wacman1389

Oh nice, what should’ve been a red, twice………hilarious

  19. There’s the red as I predicted.

  20. Eladio

    That was pretty f**king wasteful.

  21. Highbury Library

I’d rather be part of a fanbase that is delusional yet supports a winning team than be part of one that is realistic yet supports absolute crap.

  22. Jape

When I thought Hull couldn’t be a bigger bunch of utter c**ts after the first game, they go and prove me wrong. F**k them and f**k their fans.
    Come On Arsenal!

  23. wacman1389

@TFA I think that’s with any team…..but I try to remain unbiased, hence why I go here for commenting as opposed to the Arseblog….

I’m about to go through the schedule to look at our losses

  24. ebullientfatalist

That Boateng challenge was so bad I think bad tackles should be called a “Boateng” from now on.

    “C’mon ref, that’s a card! He was boateng’d!”

  25. wacman1389

I don’t remember the Sunderland game, but that’s probably one that disproves my point

  26. ebullientfatalist

I’m sorry, but even with them down to ten, I’m doubtful of all three points.

  27. Citeh, Sunderland, Chelsea, Chelsea, Man U, Man U.

  28. Jape

Nah @EF, we’ve got this. 3 points is ours.

  29. Highbury Library

    @TFA The RVP stamp? Moron.

  30. wacman1389

Yeah, taking the Chelsea and Man U games out, and City, mainly because Adebayor stepped on RVP’s face, should’ve been sent off, and then scored what I think was the winning goal.

  31. wacman1389

So yeah, after reading the match report again, Sunderland proves me wrong…..so to amend my statement….

We USUALLY can’t be beat in the league legitimately in the League unless it’s Chelsea or Man U

  32. Arsenal fans should just wear black hats. The lot of you think everything that goes against you is a conspiracy. I see it on our internal email threads every time something “wrong” happens to Arsenal. It’s a sense of entitlement and superiority that is completely unwarranted.

@HL: So, 1 in 6 losses have an element of controversy and you think you wuz robbed. Great ratio there. Suck it up and brush the sand out of your vagina.

  33. ebullientfatalist

Thanks, Jape, I need some uplifting.

  34. @wacman: is that just this year or every year?

  35. wacman1389

Well, we haven’t yet considered the draws…..but I still say that everyone thinks “we wuz robbed”, so it’s not really Arsenal specific.

Though, we straight up never get penalties……i think we have 2 or 3 this season

  36. ebullientfatalist

Jozy makes Sol look very, very old.

  37. Ryan

    Stay onside you Dutch idiot.

  38. ebullientfatalist

    That was almost a Shawcross.

    Sol is too slow there.

  39. Eladio

There was no bad challenge there…Sol clearly comes through and gets the ball.

  40. wacman1389

    I’m just talking about this year….. I’m pretty sure it’s 2

  41. Omar

dear 6 pound, 8 ounce baby jesus. please let arsenal win this game

  42. jgaugust

At least 6 minutes of stoppage time, if not more in this half

  43. Eladio

Come on Arsenal…it’s basically 11 v. 9. We need to control this game a lot more.

  44. wacman1389

Total handball, as he definitely moves his arm……

  45. Keith

Eladio: it was certainly clumsy, and a less oth center half gets there before he has to slide through zayatte’s shins. It’s more de Jong than Shawcross, for sure.

  46. i’ll go out on a limb here without any statistical support just my own opinion and anecdotal evidence and say that the arsenal fans i read and talk to are far more susceptible to the “we wuz robbed” mentality on a persistent and consistent basis than other fans.

Everybody’s out to get us because Eduardo dove. The refs don’t protect us. The league doesn’t appreciate our beautiful game. We don’t get the calls we deserve.

    It’s tiresome.

  47. ebullientfatalist

    Eboue is “lacy?”

    Hmmm. Interesting.

  48. wacman1389

@TFA, That’s a fair argument, as the way we play does seem to give us a bit of false entitlement. I will say that a fair amount of the “whinging” comes directly from the English media bias…..Gerrard dives….ehh? Eduardo dives…….OMG NOOOEZZZZZ!

And so on and so forth…..

  49. ebullientfatalist

1-1 draws with Hull are similarly tiresome.

  50. Not as tiresome as 0-0 Liverpool – Citeh draws.

  51. ebullientfatalist

Oh I don’t like this decision.

I think we move Eboue to the left, bring Theo on, and take Pixie off.

  52. ebullientfatalist

    Arshavin wtf???

  53. Ryan

I’m reasonably pleased with how Jozy has developed this year. Far from an ideal situation, but he’s definitely shown flashes.

  54. for f**ks sake, Pixie!

  55. Omar

why is denilson watching bullard making a run thru the middle of the park after losing the ball???????? i actually think he is a decent squad player but this is getting out of hand

  56. Eladio

JESUS, how bad of a finish is that…i wish Diaby had a strike.

  57. wacman1389

Pretty sure I just scared my gf with my reaction to that miss……

  58. Orr

    That’s on Nasri for me

  59. Omar

crap i just broke my desk with that miss

  60. ebullientfatalist

Bendtner dribbling would be comical if it didn’t always result in a turnover.

  61. wacman1389

    Where’s the foul???

  62. ebullientfatalist

Arshavin has not been very good over the past three games.

  63. did Marney just shoot at Myhill?

  64. wacman1389

    Yeah, i thought that was a backpass…..

  65. ebullientfatalist

If Altidore skins Sol for a winning goal I’m going to go back to bed.

  66. Eladio

    This is still 11 v 10, isn’t it?

  67. ebullientfatalist

I’m not agreeing with Wenger’s sub selecting this game.

  68. spectator

F**king Arsenal… This pitch sucks, and the penalty was bulls**t, but it really shouldn’t be this difficult to beat 10-man Hull.

  69. Eladio

Theo! Either pass or shoot, what the f**k was that?

  70. this is the old weighted ball switcheroo isn’t it?

  71. ebullientfatalist

These are the games I hate. Tons of possession, but against ten men, it’s hard to break the defensive shell.

This game had 1-1 written all over it; all the expectations and hubris we had after the Porto win – of course we draw against Hull away.

  72. ebullientfatalist

F**k that was the winner right there and a good lunging block.

  73. Omar

i just broke my broken desk…why benddddyyyyyyyyyyyy

  74. Eladio

12 minutes or so left to break through.

  75. wacman1389

    This is infuriating

  76. booooooooo!!!!!

inevitably, Hull City will give up a goal now.

  77. spectator

Hurry up and get off the pitch, Jozy! God love you but Arsenal needs to win this game!

  78. wacman1389

Good job by Jozy, worked hard and showed some skill

  79. Ryan

    I hope Hull lose now.

  80. Eladio

    “A Macheda moment”? WTF?

  81. spectator

These have possibly been the worst crosses I’ve seen from Arsenal all season.

  82. Ryan

Who was Dawson trying to pick out there?

  83. wacman1389

He’s leaning into Mendy…..mainly because Mendy jumps in front of him

  84. ebullientfatalist

Yeah, I heard that Eladio and rolled my eyes. Typical. Thankfully he didn’t refer to it as a Barcelona moment.

  85. Six minutes. It’s Fergie-time.

  86. wacman1389

    ummmm is fergie our coach?

  87. Eladio

Can’t blame Clichy for taking that shot…at least it was on target.

  88. No, but extra long injury time is always fergie time. especially if you get a winner.

  89. if Clichy had scored the match-winner the world would have ended

  90. ebullientfatalist

If we do end up drawing, I called it halftime. I demand a UF tee.

  91. jgaugust

    YESSS!!!! BENDTNER!!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!

  92. ebullientfatalist

    BENDTNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  93. spectator

    HAHAHAHAHA NICKY!!!

  94. boy…Myhill really f**ked that one up.

  95. Eladio

    YES YES F**KIN A YESSSSS

  96. wacman1389

    ABOUT F**KING TIME!!!!!

  97. spectator

    You over-confident motherf**ker you!
