I told them this was a bad idea for a kit!
This story took place earlier this month, and I’m not really sure how we missed it. Apparently, some kids were playing a little pick-up footy at a church rec center in Yakima, Washington on a nice spring evening when they were fired upon by a 41 year-old man.
The suspect walked up to the youngsters and asked them if they were gang members. Despite their assurances that they weren’t, he proceeded to fire six shots into the crowd but thankfully didn’t hit anyone.
After the kids took off running the suspect was arrested a few blocks later, where police found a few more .38-caliber bullets on him (he had enough for the whole team). He was booked on 13 counts of first-degree assault – welcome to prison!
A few things to note here:
(1) Considering that the suspect was described as holding a beer and being in the company of 3 (presumably unleashed) dogs, I am going to go out on a limb and assume that he is a mentally unstable homeless man;
(2) Is there a gang problem in Yakima, Washington that I am unaware of? Wow, I guess so;
(3) How were they playing footy with 13 players?
Yakima is the next Compton. From the article on gangs in Yakima:
“And they might be invited to hang out and go to parties, where they’re introduced to a life characterized by drugs, sex, alcohol, crime and violence.”
That just kinda sounds like high school to me.

they could have been going 6 on 6 with 1 all time goalie and you have to take it back to a certain point when you get possession back before you can turn around and attack the goal again. kinda like basketball on one side of the court. ive done it many times
I play pick-up all the time with an odd-number of guys as we wait for someone else to show up and even things out

I think you guys are all ignoring the key component of this story–the shooter, in addition to holding a beer and having three dogs, was also wearing a white beanie.
Goat: Propeller hasn’t been confirmed, but otherwise, he was just wearing a tight winter cap.

I doubt he was homeless, he was just a Glen Beck watcher :D
