At this point everyone’s sick of/still aroused by the Danny Rose goal yesterday against Arsenal, one seemingly made all the more special by the fact that Rose is 19 and was making his EPL debut. Take a bow, Danny.
There was another goal that caught the eye, and it occurred at the Nou Camp where Barcelona are contractually obligated to score at least one ridiculous goal per game. Check out Pedro’s lofted drive last night against Deportivo:
Not bad, right? The second angle (shot behind the Depor goal) makes it look even more ridiculous.
HAving watched a fair few Barca games this season, I can say that Pedro kid looks pretty sharp. His goal vs. Real was taken very well for someone his age in that situation. Him, Messi and Bojan will be a force for the next decade…scary.
Now, that’s how you punish a foolishly aggressive keeper.
But Rose’s goal is still better. Although I am biased, I think Rose has to be in goals of the season competition. Even moreso when you consider it’s his debut and it’s the NLD and the match had high, high stakes.
I am still amazed at how surprised Almunia looks. He is genuinely startled that the ball is coming directly at his head and is so late to react. I am taking nothing away from the strike – it is sublime, but shouldn’t the keeper always expect the ball to be headed in his direction?
Almost looks like he got a lucky curl in. Not an easy goal but still an empty net.
Danny Rose FTW. COYS!

LOVE that there’s no commentary on that clip.

That really wasn’t that diffucult many pros could make that i was basically a cross, Rose’s is miles ahead of this
