We’re sticklers for the truth around here. Or at least that’s what we tell ourselves. So unlike some other websites that run with leaked photos and then have to run “oops” updates a day later, we’ve waited until someone did the work for us and confirmed that the shirts are real. Unless they’re fake. In which case, we’re better because we didn’t believe you anyway.
So, the new Manchester United shirts. I’m allowed to buy one again because it fits my goal of having a sponsor that few Americans would recognize (I do not own any of the AIG shirts, even though I love the one from last season).
Snap judgment: One is very nice, the other is a holdover from 1992 and is FAIL.
First, let’s get out Michael Kors mirror shades on and go all “Project Runway” on these bad boys. Yes, I went there.
Second, to commenter Keith, anyone whose team had to wear this has no room to talk.
The new home shirt is quite nice. Simple, clean, and I’m always a sucker for shirts with a collar. I don’t even mind the AON logo. it’s way better than the boring logo that will be on some other s**t team’s shirts.
I also like that Nike doesn’t seem to have been sucked into the super-tight-fitting shirt trend. Sure, it looks good on EBJT, but do you think some punter who weighs 280 pounds is going to be able to wear the new Chelsea shirt? Not likely.
My biggest problem with the new home shirt is that, except for the fact that it doesn’t smell like third place in the EPL, it looks a little Arsenal-ish. And that’s not good. Ned called it boring. I’ll to see it up close when I buy it with either Rooney or Giggs on the back. But at first blush, it’s miles better than this season’s shirt.
As for the away shirt, The commentary begins and ends with the lightning bolt on the sleeves. Really, Nike? Really? I didn’t like this year’s away shirt at all. But day-um that sleeve is ugly.
So there you have it. The shirts that will win the treble next season. And the shirts all the rest of you get to hate.

Nicely done PR.
Well played, PR.
I loved the electric blue shirt from last year. You want to get on us for an away shirt, get on us >for this
and the sleeves on the away shirt make United look like they’re stuck between stati. . .
Oh, we’re not doing that anymore.
/ON THE RADIO!!!
Getting Giggs or Rooney on the back? Why not go with your family name? America will laugh at you, but Ned would approve.
Looks a ‘little Arsenal-ish’? Yeah, to say the least. http://www.epltalk.com/new-arsenal-home-shirt-for-the-2010-2011-season/16165 ..and other than our invisible-on-Vermaelen sleeves, lack of collar, and sponsors, we could be Mary-kate to your Ashley.
As for the lightening bolt, even Tim Gunn couldn’t make that work.
Funny how even decently successful teams Arse and The Reds have to work to adapt “popular throwback” kits to times when they were successful. Arse in ’71 and LP in 90..instead of showing they’re progressive, growing, and getting better by designing something new.
That site notes, “Why try to design new when you can go with something that everyone will love?” I’d say – because shows a lack of imagination, which is something every team likes to have on their side when needing to win a match. Lame. Old. Kits. Plus, (at least for the Arse) their younger fans weren’t alive then, so the design has no significance to them anyway.
@Mountain Wag: While I appreciate your opinion and agree with it, for the most part, you linked to the site that most often posts fake pics and then has to go back and say “whoops.”
You should be ashamed. (I’m kidding, of course, but they are the biggest “oops” offenders)
@Corky: I would, but “End” doesn’t look good on the back of a jersey.
Yeah, I thought that rumored new Arsenal shirt was unconfirmed. I hope it’s real though because I am buying that bitch the second I can.
@Stretford: I don’t see how ‘end’ will be a problem on the name. T-W-A-T seems to fit pretty easily.
Holy Shit!! What is with the Torres picture in the new Liverpool kit? He looks like anime David Bowie or something – which sounds a lot cooler than it looks.
@STE – I thought so, but really, we’re all guilty of something. Even if they say oops – Will it be far off? Red, White, a Cannon, maybe a nike swoosh? (-;
@ Jape – I swear I didn’t think it was Torres. The haircut and forearm tats I hadn’t paid attention to before made me do a double-take. He’s going for euro-sexy? Let him know it’s not working.
(@TSE if you didn’t figure it out, @STE is actually for you above…the dyslexia kicks in every once in a while..sorry).
I love the new uniform for Man U. Especially the white and red. It shows how real Manchester United is United now!!!
