The Guardian is reporting that Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan receives the Golden Boot Ball award for the 2010 World Cup. With five goals in seven matches, and three Man-of-the-Match awards, he lead Uruguay as the last South American team in the World Cup.

That Golden Ball trophy looks surprisingly similar to a Golden Boot. Someone should have a word with FIFA’s trophy makers. People might get confused.
Hey we can’t all be sober enough to blog after the World Cup final. At least the caption has been updated to reflect the error.
Thought he was deserving. Xavi was as well, but string-pulling MF’s don’t win these awards…Sneijder would have if he’d actually showed up today…
Meanwhile, the lead boot goes to de Jong.
Webb will never be able to explain that non-RC away, unless he says he never saw it, which is just as damning…and I really like De Jong previously…
*liked* past tense, anyone?
I stopped liking him when he broke Stu’s leg
Dude, that really was some full-out, fly-through-the-air, Hidden-Tiger-Sleeping-Dragon ninja-fu. Get that man a black belt.
Also, re-watching the end of the game, I get the chills when Iniesta scores. I love this game.

Thaks to Diago Forlan for his wonderfull diplay of football in 2010 FIFA world cup. After 1986 it is really sweet memory to see such type of mavellous football player.I am Abhijit Mukherjee from India.I wish him best of luck.
When this tournament started, I wasn’t a fan of Forlan. But, when this ended, I am definitely a fan of his! He fully and duly deserved this golden ball. And, he is the one and only hero of Uruguay!
(Very small bug with the site — the strikethrough doesn’t appear on the frontpage preview of the article.)
UF is getting international commenters! Also, is the Golden Boot trophy really an Adidas boot? Is the award sponsored by Adidas or something?
