Mark Hughes To Manage Fulham

Sparky Shines Amid The Gloom

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Sorry.

Mark Hughes is the new boss at Fulham, following the London club’s failed effort to pry Martin Jol loose from Ajax’ cold, dead hands.

This could work out well for the Cottagers, especially if they give Hughes a few pounds to spend before the transfer window closes. After all, he wasn’t a complete disaster at Manchester City, leaving in acrimonious circumstances.

However, we’ll err on the side of caution and hope that Fulham manage to maintain their upper-middle status in the EPL hierarchy.

Could be worse. I figured Fulham might hire Brian Laws off of Burnley, so not too bad.

As the local Blackburn supporter, all I can say is “Good Hire, Cottagers”. From a size, spending, and expectations viewpoint, Fulham is very similar to Blackburn, just with an actual rich person as the owner. I consider him about as an ideal follow-up to Woy as FFC could have found, as he’s used to working with a limited budget, keeping a disciplined structure and defense, and making sure to take points at home.

Separately, its good to see Sparky back in the EPL – too bad its not back at Rovers to replace BFS…

I wish him well. No ill feelings at all really. Even less if he buys Roque back from us.

I’m just so glad we didn’t hire Sven.

I might have to retract my above statement. A rumored 4m pound offer for Bellamy? Are you insane Sparky?

Bellamy is a totally decent EPL player. Only problem is the price as Citeh are going to have to dump players, so Sparky should lowball the crap out of that offer.

I would disagree. City don’t have to “dump” anyone; they’re hardly in need of the money. Either put Bellamy in the 25 man squad or leave him out and play him in the cup competitions. It’s ridiculous by Hughes to offer 10 million less than he himself paid for Bellamy not more than 18 months ago.
This is all if the rumors are true of course, could be a load of bull.

It’s not a money issue obviously. The number of players they have that expect to play first team football won’t be cool with playing just the cup competitions. City is going to have to dump players. Mancini even said so himself.
