Remember this?
It was the little bet made between the respective ambassadors to the respective countries of the United States of America and Britain. The cheeky email exchange (linked above) was between the press attaches for the ambassadors, but the ambassadors themselves were the ones on the hook.
It ended up with a bet where an England win would result in dinner at a DC steakhouse of Sir Nigel Sheinwald’s choosing, but a US win would mean that Louis Susman would get treated to a night in a British pub.
Kind of crappy bet for Susman, the American ambassador. It is way easier to rack up an enormous dinner bill at a topnotch steakhouse than at a pub, especially when you factor in the $20 table dances.
But Robert Green sucks and the match ended level at 1-1. So whatever became of the bet?
Eh, they called off after the draw, but still decided to meet for dinner in DC and split it 50-50. That’s the way they do it this rogue town.

I’m sure the American ambassador made a toast to Robert Green for making his dinner bill that much smaller.

Well then…
Given the abundance of ties in soccer I can’t believe this is the first post to use that tag.
Completely unrelated to the topic but I felt the need to post this: I was listening to Zangalewa (the Cameroonian song that Waka Waka is based off of) and I realized…I miss the World Cup.
That is all.
