Syrian To Steal LFC?

Kirdi Promised To Pay For a New Stadium. He Promised!

Hopeful EPL owners must be like buses: after no turnover for a while, all of a sudden there’s four or five guys sniffing around clubs and looking to make bids.

After the whole Kenny Huang/RBS business, Hicks and Gillett are suddenly claiming “advanced negotiations” with a Syrian businessman, Yahya Kirdi, who is just teh c00lest. Funny how we didn’t hear a word about this guy until Huang had stepped forward and talked to EPL officials.

But hey, check our Kirdi! “Agreement has been reached on all major terms including the purchase price, repayment of the existing bank debt … and financing of a new stadium in Liverpool’s Stanley Park. A formal purchase agreement between the parties is in the final stage of negotiation.”

Also: he’s found a cure for cancer, helped some old ladies across the road, and always acts as Designated Driver whenever the lads head out to the bar (though we’re not sure how much they drink in Syria.

Could be some special brand of bullsh*t designed to force Huang to pay more, or it could be legitimate. Either way, I feel a lot better about the other bid that’s been independently verified, as opposed to this puppet/Manchurian Candidate type who’s being rolled out by H&G to make it seem like they’re going to get rich off this deal after all.

One to watch over the coming days.

And Rovers may have found their very own Sugar-Daddy, some Indian guy whose wealth traces back to the “East India Company” – hmm, bio inflation, anyone? (Also, can anyone confirm that “Syed” is NOT Indian for “Hicks”?)

Owning a football club is a bit like running an airline–very little profit margin, if any. So, what do the Asian/Middle East Daddy Warbucks get out of these deals? Ego-stroking? New markets for their business products? Avoiding prison (looking at you, Thaksin)? If the liverbirds get new ownership, that’s probably good for the league as a whole and for LFC fans, but I’m always curious what the end-game is for these guys.
