Pulpo Paul Picks England For World Cup 2018

Paul for England

Paul the Octopus may as well be Brett Favre as the cephalopod is unretiring to make one more pick (not an interception mind you) to determine the 2018 World Cup host nation. This time Paul has thrown his tentacled support behind the country of his birth–England.

Paul quit the seer business (probably because he didn’t like the sound of the word) after correctly predicting the result of eight consecutive matches in this year’s World Cup (Germany’s seven matches and Spain’s victory in the final), but is now cashing in on his celebrity. He has book, movie and merchandising deals after his success this summer.

England is one of five bids for the 2018 World Cup along with the USA, Russia, and joint bids from Spain and Portugal and Belgium and the Netherlands. FIFA will select the host nation in December. Unfortunately, Paul is reaching the end of his life span of three years having been born in 2008.

I guess this means that WC 2018 will be hyped as the best WC in a generation only to falter when confronted with the American bid and completely fall apart when informed of the German bid.
