Manchester City signee Jerome Boateng suffered a setback in his quest to get on the pitch for his new side, aggravating an injury sustained during the World Cup.
After tearing a tendon in his knee while on international duty for Germany in South Africa, Boateng hoped to be fully fit for the opening of the EPL (suck it, Barclays!) season.
The exact timing is unclear, but it seems that the knee injury was exacerbated (possibly on the flight home from the World Cup) when Boateng had a liquor-related incident. Due to those shenanigans, the defender will be unavailable until the end of September. In addition to his domestic matches, that means Boateng will also miss Germany’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Belgium and Azerbaijan. Somehow, I think that Die Mannschaft will make it through those without him.
Alright, alright. Boateng wasn’t drinking on the flight (as far as we know). He re-injured his knee when it was hit by the drink cart. Perhaps the flight attendant was English?

I’m not quite sure what the story is with his injury. Maybe he did pick something up at the World Cup, but he played in a preseason match against Valencia and looked fine. I heard he had a cut, and it got infected, but maybe that’s just gossip.
Either way, I’m sure it’s all Mancini’s fault.
After he was hit with the cart, did the flight attendant grab a couple beers off said, cart, open the emergency door and jump out the plane yelling, 5-1, 5-1, suck it Germany?
I was on the plane, Lufthansa from Munich to Manchester on the 12th of August after Germany played against Denmark in a friendly. As well as Jerome, Nemanja Vidic was on board. There was pretty bad turbulence, hence why the cart hit his knee.
And the crew were all German…
