Yep, so much for the USMNT going in a new direction. ESPN and the Twitters are reporting that US Soccer and Bob Bradley have agreed on a deal to keep Huh Bob around through the 2014 World Cup.
I don’t quite know how to react to this. Was the Aston Villa talk enough to sucker Sunil Gulati into ponying up to keep Bradley around? Was Jeurgen Klinsmann not interested again? Did he actually do a good enough job to earn another complete cycle?
We’ll post more details when they become available. I’m sure Grant Wahl or someone will have them eventually.

guh.
Damnit
F**k.
Woo hoo!
FUUUUUUUUCK
I laugh to keep from crying.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Wait, maybe today is April 1.
Dear Sunil Gulati: Go f**k yourself.
We as a nation haven’t been f**ked like this since grade school.
I would hope that this was not Sunil buying what Bradley and his agent were selling to the press and that this had to do with money (i.e. money being too high for alternate candidates that would not amount to the same thing as Bradley). What a terrible Monday. Terri Leigh leaves and Bob Bradley stays.
What is this I don’t even
Let the anal raping of the USMNT begin!
To answer your questions: Yes, the Aston Villa thing was a sham, Jurgen was interested but Gulati is an idiot, and Huh Bob didn’t do enough to get four more years. A 30-28-8 record considering the teams we play in CONCACAF is pretty awful.
So angry right now at Gulati. After being so close in 06 to getting Klinsmann, we took on Bradley, who despite the fact that he is indeed tactically clueless 99% of the time, has taken the US further than it was before.
Now was the time to get a truly veteran coach in who can raise the level of play of a quality international side to a great one and we failed to do that.
So in conclusion, f**k you Sunil and f**k you Bob.
(Also, knowing Sunil personally from class, he can be a real dick sometimes to students too)
What you laughing at, James T? Cabbage Man Capello is about to bring back Becks for Euro 2012!
How did Sunil get in charge, anyway? Can we supporters get him booted somehow?
What really angers me about this is that it seems to be absolute proof that Gulati has no f**king balls. He is a f**king fan boy who has no clue how to run a federation. Whether or not Bradley is a good manager is debatable (ducks tomatoes thrown by other UF’ers), but it was, at the very least, time to go in a new direction. Let Huh Bob move on and screw up Keith’s team and let the USMNT try a new hand at the tiller. Instead, we get further proof that change scares Sunil. I give up…
Meh, just f**kin run about.
This is all Landon Donovan’s fault.
Well it could have been worse! They could have rehired Bruce Arena…
Grant Wahl’s take (and Lando did NOT get Dancing With the Stars)

It’s not even a surprise.. Did anyone really think we were going to hire someone else? Honestly, his world cup was decent, and might have even been successful if he hadn’t picked Ricardo F**king Clark for the England and Ghana games. But therein lies the problem. 4 more years. He needs to blood some new players, take back the Gold Cup. Or we’re back to BRADLEY OUT all over again.. F**kin a
It should have been a 1 year deal. Light a fire under his ass to win the meaningful Gold Cup… But that would be smart, ans US Soccer isn’t smart.

Epic. F**king. FAIL.
Fanf**kingtastic.
Clearly I’m in the minority here, but I’m happy Bingo Bob is staying with the USMNT. His accomplishments of late have been impressive. USMNT wins it WC Group for the first time in forever, finishes tops in the hexagonal, wins the Gold Cup and qualifies for the Confederations Cup, in which the team knocks off Spain on the way to the Final against Brazil. There’s tremendous youth talent coming through the system, so player development will be key. Bradley’s teams may get out-coached (TACTICS!) but they don’t get out worked. And besides Klinsmann, who else was on US Soccer’s radar for the hot seat?
@RFC
He’s a player’s coach, his players respect the hell out of him from all reports. Just his in game managing and player choices (Don’t have to name names) is not good enough. I would compare him to Bud Black in San Diego.
Nice pic of Bob celebrating the new contract. Oh, and I’ve got to agree with Sean, he is in the minority…
Four more years of robbie findley and ricardo clark! hooray bob!!!
I would also like to register my ‘boo’.
“Get used to Tracksuit Bob.” I will not, sir!
Exhibit number one.
.
I’m beginning to believe the SF-Eh? have a better long-term approach than the USSF. I cannot absently cheer for this man anymore.
RFC, I would say his teams DO get outworked, in the first 15 minutes of every single half. And I think that falls on the coach.
So — US Soccer 2018!
But, Findley’s so fast! He’ll outrun everyone!
Villa thing was a bit silly–Bradley doesn’t have the license to be a Prem manager at this time, Villa would have asked for special permission from the league just to hire him. Overall, this will not end well–Bruce Arena after 2002 anyone?
God damn, I can’t wait to see more of Bornstein, and hopefully Sacha too. Maybe Edu can play another good game in 2014 and get benched for the knockout round? The more Ricardo Clark, the better!
/needs a drink
@ TSE: And no, I will not get used to Tracksuit Bob. Never tracksuits, NEVER!
Lose the internet for a day, log back on to find we’ve won four more years of Tracksuit. Awesome.
We’ll have a longer take on this shortly…
@Jacob
.
You can’t make that kind of stuff up.
I’d call Sunil Gulati a cocksucker but that’s an insult to people who do it well.
There really aren’t enough curse words for this in the English language, and I think I’ll use them all the next time I see Bradley’s frozen stiff face.
