Latest “New Zidane” Is Already Lowballing Himself for Mourinho

‘Cause Cheap Is How He Feels

Having been declared “the new Zidane” by his club president late last month, Palermo’s Javier Pastore has begun his own PR campaign to make himself cheap enough to get out of his pink shirt.

After a stellar performance in the club’s opening away win against Juventus, Palermo president Mourizio Zamparini said of this star player, “He is the new Zidane. He is very strong and complete. Within two years he’ll be worth as much as Messi.”

But Zamparini apparently doesn’t want money adding, “He won’t be moving away from Palermo, neither in January nor in June. Real Madrid have also asked for him, but I have already refused. I consider him unsellable.”

There were already rumors of a €40M move to Manchester City, and Pastore himself seems to think the number associated with Madrid might have been around €50M because he’s come out to say that he’s not worth that much and he would totally be affordable should the Special One want to him to wear white.

Said the Argie, “Am I worth €50m? I am tranquil, and I don’t know anything with regards to this… I don’t know if I am worth €50m, I don’t think so, but I am not thinking about these things.”

Yes, people who are not even thinking about how much they might be worth in a transfer have an idea whether or not they are worth the rumored amount of that potential transfer. And they certainly don’t talk about it to the media.

And if you’re Madrid, what’s another €50M?

This guy is gonna be worth it in another year or so

  2. I’ve already seen him called the new Messi and the new Maradona, what a whore. Also maybe Madrid should sign some striker cover instead of just a s**tload of attacking midfielders, aka the Rafa strategy.

@James T – It’s a good thing Reds are in a position to spend right now, then.

idk what everyone else has seen from pastore (no full games mind) but ive seen some highlight reels and theyre mostly chamakh quality

Another “Next Zidane” or “Next Messi”, whereas the rest of the world is still awaiting the “Next Steed Malbranque”

    Thanks for reminding me
    /shoots self in head

Pastore really came into his own with Palermo last year. Miccoli and Cavani had him to thank for many of their tallies. I do still think its a bit premature to label him the “next” anyone, but the kid’s got talent, no doubt about it.

Also, isn’t it a wee bit early to talk about the next Messi, when the current Messi is himself still young?

    @Anon
    Never too young

When I hear people talk about players primes being 26-28 ish. I think of Messi last year at 22 and laugh at the thought of him getting better.
