After a possibly intentional move of gamesmanship, the Ghanaian FA has sent an official letter of apology to the the Senegalese FA after the latter’s U-17 side was reduced to taking taxis to the stadium for the the teams’ African Championship qualifier in Accra.
The driver for what was supposed to be Senegal’s bus went walkabout before kickoff, leaving the team with no means to the match.
The AFC has since paid for the eight different taxis needed to take the team and staff from their hotel to the El-Wak Sports stadium.
Senegal lost the first leg 2-0, and now there is a bit of worry that something similar might happen to the Black Starlets—really, do you want your U-Whatever team to sound like they dabble in porn?—on the return leg. Hence the official apology.
Said Awuah Nyamekye, chairman of the team management committee: “It’s was a sorry situation and we apologize to the Senegalese team for what happened which was never intentional.
“When I saw them coming in taxis it was shocking to me because they had been taking good care of and so was a bit surprise at the turn of event… We apologise sincerely and we hope they’ll take our apology in good faith.”
Winner gets a trip to Rwanda for next year’s African Championship, which is probably okay as long as you don’t have any Tutsis on your squad.

Dustin Hoffman is not welcome in Rwanda.
I wonder if there is a hotel in Rwanda for them that is safe and accommodating to ‘Black Starlets’…
I was really slow on picking up on the fact that “Taxicab Confessions” was on HBO.
@jacob – don’t feel bad. I never got that joke. I don’t have HBO.
