Weekend Bootroom: Prelude To Monday Edition

I don't even know how to describe this.

This is one of those rare weekends when there are more live games on TV on Sunday than there are on Saturday. And the game of the weekend is on Monday. So let’s get to what we have for today, shall we?

The weekend gets off to a rousing start with the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich hosting St. Pauli. Bayern are out of a European spot at the moment, and St. Pauli are just fun.

The EPL slate begins at 10 a.m. No early game Saturday. None of the three games is super exciting, but ESPN2 has West Ham and Manchester Citeh, so it will be fun to watch Citeh continue to be confounding and you get Ian Darke and Macca, so that trumps the Villa-West Brom tilt on FSC. Also, Citeh have a chance to move into second place, even if it’s temporary. They could take top spot if they win by 7 goals or more. It could happen.

Later, we have the Newcastle Pardews hosting Liverpool. The Reds could see themselves one spot out of Europe with the right results, or they could drop to 12th. Meanwhile, Newcastle will be trying to make a good impression on their new boss, and Pardew will be trying to win over Geordie Dave.

The big match Sunday is the London Derby between The Tottingham Hotspurs and Spartak London. After looking so dominant early, Chelski have fallen flat, and they could fall to fourth, just one point ahead of Spurs — who it must be said are in incredible form. I hate complimenting Spurs. Oh, and it looks as if Rafael Van der Vaart will miss the game.

Then, in a special mention for Spectator, we have the Devon Derby, which is (Googles… reads ….) Plymouth Argyle v. Exeter City in League One. Here’s my question: How the hell did Exeter City go 17 days between league matches?! Well, I don’t know the answer, but from what I’ve read, this is a pretty heated derby, so I’m sure it’ll be a good one.

Monday, of course, is the game of the season. Well, until the next game of the season. But we’ll talk about that later. Until then, enjoy the matches and comment safely!
