The Smile Might Be Winning, But His Teams Weren’t
Conflicting reports are coming from the club, but it’s being reported (here and here) that Rafa was fired by Inter.
Actually the English press are reporting that Massimo Moratti is insisting that the Spanish waiter is still in charge, but there are apparently numerous reports from Italian media saying Benitez has been given the axe.
Said Moratti: “At this moment, unless I am mistaken, Benítez is the manager of Inter. I have read about supposed contact with other managers [to succeed Benítez], but the club has not been in contact with anyone.”
Here’s the fun part. Benitez is actually on holiday…. In Liverpool. Huh? Really? A) He’s allowed to go there and B) someone wants to spend their vacation time in Liverpool?
Well if the Reds want to can Roy, they can have their old manager back.
TFA UPDATE II: Looks like reports are changing a bit with the club and Rafa now working on details of the termination.
TFA UPDATE: Rafa has met with reporters encamped outside his Liverpool villa. He was even so nice as to bring them a hot cup of coffee in the cold weather.
Rafa’s first passion is serving coffee.
