There’s been some silly, there’s been some sad, and there’s been an announcement of a Michael Jackson statue in front of Craven Cottage that falls into both categories. So consider this a Whitman’s Sampler Backpasses–where some clicks might be sweet footy goodness while others could be bitter nuggets of regret.
Oh, and St Patrick’s Day is the birthday of one of the best US soccer players around–Mia Hamm. That’s really what you were celebrating, right?
Wenger thinking Arsenal might pull out of a previously-discussed pre-season tour of Japan. Wonder if they cuddle together in Austria instead? [Daily Mail]
With the internationals around the corner, a look at the Top 10 USMNT wins. You lot remember 1950 right? Not #1 [MFUSA]
Looking at Ferdy’s season ending for United and how it affects your fantasy calculations. Not sure about picking up Smalling this weekend though–he doesn’t look to good when not paired with Vidic. [NCNB]
Are you new to the discussion of “nous”? Could Ian Holloway be described as having “verbal nous”? [RoP]
Silly and sad–referee forces match in Rio to continue on despite copious amounts of sewage water flooding the pitch. No word on if those who played in it were immediately quarantined and sterilized. [WaatP]
And finally, I’m going to pull a homer here–relive my nightmare of becoming Spurs RB Alan Hutton the other night. [YY]

I really don’t see what the referee was doing telling the players to play a game in those conditions. Furthermore I can’t believe the players and coaches agreed, the referee can’t “Force” them to do anything. Take a picture of the pitch get your stuff and leave.
Put me down for guarenteeing Spurs draw Barça.
I want a liveblog of the draw dammit!!! what is this 3rd rate shenanigans?
I’m making my own liveblog. I don’t know why I’m still up.

We get the second leg at the Lane that’s HUGE. it’s going to be electric. I wish I could be there… Hmmm maybe I will.
@TNO: The use of caps and shriek marks tells me your coffee intake is high this morning.
Barca vs Shaktar? I’ll take Shaktar in an upset.
@Mighty
Notice the avatar. I’m about to go to bed out here on the left coast. The Madrid fixture is exciting.
Barca-Shahktar. Schalke-Inter. Chelsea-United. Real-Sp*rs.

Not bad draws. Barca-Shahktar will be must see.
Winner of Spurs vs Madrid plays the winner of Barça vs Waxtap. They’re not making this easy are they?
I admire your dedication, Tno. Tough stretch for you guys. Best of luck.
Bale vs Ramos, Sandro vs Ozil, VdV vs Khediera, and my personal favorite ‘Arry vs TSO
@ZombieEF
I’d rather lose the the best than lose a depressing game to Schalke or Shaktar.
On one hand, ManU or Chelsea go home. That’s great. On the other, one of them basically gets a free ride to the final through Inter/Schalke in the semi. That’s bad.
And I really really like that Barca has to play the second leg in the Ukraine. Very nice.
