Naming Rights Stadium Times Three

Not Good Enough For Spurs

After flopping this season in its title defense, Chelsea has another flop to its collection as the club failed to secure a sponsor for Stamford Bridge. The club had been looking for a sponsor the last 18 months but no corporation was interested in paying £100m for the ten year sponsorship.

What? Piggly Wiggly didn’t want to hear “Welcome to the Piggly Wiggly Bridge where Chelsea hosts Havant and Waterlooville in a 3rd round FA Cup Replay” for the low-low price of £10m a year?

Shocking.

In other field name news, Liverpool has announced they will not rename Anfield. However, they are seeking a ‘naming partner’ in case they do move to a new stadium.

Even more stadium news. Tottenham are laying the groundwork to challenge the decision to award the Olympic Stadium to West Ham. The club’s lawyers are questioning the process for the decision. “Naming Rights Stadium” still not good enough for Spurs.

In his Twitter Q&A yesterday, Rio listed White Hart Lane as his third favorite stadium (after Old Trafford and Wembley). So there’s that…

I hate the position of the TV cameras at WHL. Too high, makes me dizzy.

Heard a major reason for West Ham getting the Olympic Stadium was that they planned on keeping the stadium pretty much as it is for Olympics, track and all. Did they learn nothing from the Juve’s failed Stadio delle Alpi? Track around field = bad!

  4. BG

@RFSean: and correct me if I’m wrong, but they would be the only EPL club with a track around the field, right? Um, if they stay in the EPL, that is.

Spurs could use a better stadium negotiator. You know, a real fackin’ wheeler dealer.

  6. @Ryan: Could you put a bib on your gravatar? that would be awesome. kthxbai.

‘Arry’s about to fackin wheel and deal VdV for a big profit. We bought him for £8 we can sell for £20.

“Thanks for visiting Napa Park. Thank you for watching Liverpool today, and think of Napa for all your hubcap and auto parts needs.”

  9. BG

This would be the perfect company to buy the naming rights to Stamford Bridge. Not sure if they could come up with the 100M, but it would be awesome if they did.

  10. @MP: saw that! a spot of yellow fever seen at Anfield.

@TFA: Did you see this? Such a helpful guy that Edin is.

Also, since when did “crap” become a dirty word in England? I’ve now seen it starred out as c**p on two different websites.

@TFA: Yes, and we all know what happened the last time a Liverpudlian fell for an asian…
