Finally, Some Fight!

He'd actually like to win one this year, thankyouverymuch.

Sure, it could be said that from the way Arsenal’s season has recently unraveled, their critics can claim they lack the “fight” necessary to drudge through four competitions and win any trophies. Well, whether Arsenal will win anything this year is up in the air, but the good news is, they’re finally showing they will (literally) fight for it.

In the dressing room at the half, during the Blackpool game, Robin Van Persie and Abou Diaby had to be pulled apart by teammates. It’s speculated that RvP got on to Diaby for getting a silly yellow (kicking the ball out of bounds). Of course, RvP must have been considering the two yellow cards that Diaby got during the Newcastle game that ultimately contributed to Arsenal blowing a 4 goal lead. The irony stands that RvP doesn’t have much room to talk. If not for his stupid first yellow card at Barcelona in the Champions League game this year, he wouldn’t have been controversially sent off for not hearing the whistle later.

While some may take it as disharmony and unraveling behind the scenes, as we see with so many other teams, I am heartened to see SOMEONE, especially an elder and leader like RvP, finally step up, constructively criticize, and motivate this team with some emotion…into a win. There’s rarely any discord behind the scenes for Arsenal and it’s about time our good school boys got into some trouble. They can and should then be able to use that emotion on the pitch…just in more of a Craig Bellamy way than a Joey Barton way.

Bring it.
