Were we all hungover? Or just lazy?
I’d argue neither. With the USWNT capturing the lion’s share of everyone’s attention, it’s easy to forget there’s lots of other great action going on this weekend.
While we were slacking Sweden already captured 3rd place in the WWC with a sweet 82nd minute strike from Marie Hammarstrom which made the score 2-1. This leaves the French 4th, but still number 1 in NYK’s heart.
Elsewhere, Peru kept their surprising Copa America run going with an extra time 2-0 victory over Colombia.
Plenty of solid MLS action to be seen this weekend, as well as Goldenballs taking on his former Spanish squad in the World Football Challenge.
There’ll be at least a couple special posts up tomorrow for the USA-Japan WWC final, but for now consider this your destination for all the rest of the weekend’s footy.
