With the sounds of soccer! Seriously, there’s a healthy helping of footy this evening–enough so to prompt a midweek Bootroom for the occasion.
Remember, during the season, when we would have a Bootroom nearly every day for all the matches? Ah, good times. And it’s almost returning–even better times.
The evening’s biggest match might be the Copa America semifinal between Paraguay & Venezuela. For those who check up on Twitter, migrate over to Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez’ handle for the most unbiased updates for this match, which, regardless of outcome, will see La Vinotinto have their best ever finish in this tournament.
Of greater interest to most, though, FSC will be giving Women’s Professional Soccer a primetime spotlight by showing tonight’s match between Western New York & magicJack live. This match should feature Marta for the NY side while magicJack seemingly has half of the Liberty Belles’ World Cup squad, and it’s nicely timed before the Copa semifinal & the Seattle/Manchester United friendly.
And then there’s a slew of MLS matches on the docket as well. Carpe football.

Everton v. Union is in a few minutes, but unless you live in Philly you have to pay to watch the match.
Brian: Yeah, just found a listing of the ones I could find. Newcastle are playing Sporting KC tonight as well, but didn’t see anything available to list.
And I do believe everyone’s favorite German is playing tonight against FC Dallas, along with the lad TFC just signed, Viator.
Ya know, it sure would be nice to be able to find MLS playoff standings on the league’s own website, rather than having to go to Wikipedia.
Nice drag-back by Davies there, Reis with a good reaction save.
@Ryan: Huh? I looked at those last night.
-
Going to Portland v. West Brom tonight.
@Ryan: to clarify…looked at them on the MLS site.
Never noticed this before: TSN has the same promo music/graphics as ESPN for soccer. Mickey Mouse owns TSN too?
@ TFA: Saw on Twitter Odemwingie hanging out downtown, might not be playing. That would be a shame. All you have is Woy.
@TFA: The playoff ones, or only the Eastern/Western ones? I’ve only been able to find the latter on the MLS site. The playoff ones, like Wikipedia shows are different, what with the new playoff format and all.
I tried, really I did. But this Flash v. MagicJack match is making baby Jesus cry.
So can I just give a big thank you to everyone who has ever done a liveblog on this site. Attempting to do one for the Everton- Union game (0-0 at HT), and it is just difficult, especially when the match is on your computer
@Ryan: Yeah, i went back and looked…i guess it was just the standings and did not indicate where the playoff teams could be found.
–
@Brian: yeah, tough to do when the game is on the computer. You need a second monitor or second computer.
I hope Venezuela wins or the Copa America final will be super guay
/shows self out
Brek Shea evidently scored a pretty amazing goal tonight.
1-0 Union win after Everton defense resembles the U.S women’s team. Heitinga gets sent off about 30 seconds from Full Time with a straight red. The ref seemed to think he struck the Union player
It’s always nice to see red cards in friendlies. Glad to see he’s been spending his holiday with De Jong.
Someone say Brek Shea? Prick.
Apparently, goal-keeping is not the problem at RBNY.
“Karim Ben-ZA-ma”
I’m convinced John Harkes never ever ever watches a football match he isn’t calling.
PKs in the Copa Semi
Ah, SASIC…..
Two great goals for timbers. Great shots. 2-0.

@Ryan: MLS says it will deal with the playoff standings on the website after the all star break. Takes time for the programmers.
What the hell happpened in Seattle?
@Shane: Ben-zeh-ma, no?
Thanks TFA.
