Perhaps at least one person was able to take something positive away from the most recent US Gold Cup experience. Alejandro Bedoya looks to be moving  from Sweden to Scottish club Rangers, pending approval of a work permit.

While I’m not sure what completely comprises the allowance of a permit, it seems one of the requirements is to be a somewhat active player for one’s national side. Having missed the cut for South Africa, he made it into the Gold Cup side after Benny Feilhaber’s injury, Bedoya now sits on 13 US caps.

So, if Robbie Findley Fast can pass muster for Nottingham Forest on fewer caps, Bedoya should be good to go north of the border. Without the Gold Cup, though, his position might have been a bit more tenuous. Look at that–a potential silver lining from that mess!
