Our new national hero has produced his first new national team roster.
Here it is, presented without much comment, for your perusal. We really like some inclusions (Shea) and have little opinion on others (Clark). If nothing else, nice to see some new faces in the fold.
GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C.United), Tim Howard (TIMMAY!) (Everton)
DEFENDERS (8): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne), Edgar Castillo (Club America), Timmy Chandler (FC Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls)
MIDFIELDERS (7): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Ricardo Clark (Eintracht Frankfurt), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), José Torres (Pachuca)
FORWARDS (5): Freddy Adu (Benfica), Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Edson Buddle (FC Ingolstadt), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)

Beasley? Well then where the hell is Bornstein and Klejstan?
Where’s Bornstein?
Really, really, REALLY wish he dropped Bradley, even if just as a laugh.
ME LIKE LIKE LIKE!
I like the mix of older WC’ers and young kids. He is by passing the fill’n boys spector and bornstein and taking a chance with young plays in the camp (Castillo and Hamid). The real surprise was Pearce, but I welcome clark back in the fold. His play as a reserve CB in the 2nd half of the season last year was decent, if not good.
Jacob: Agree would have like to have seen that as well. He could have him on the bench to start and still get the requisite laugh from me. Plus, I’d rather see Edu or Torres anyway.
I’m mostly in favor of this group. Love seeing Chandler, Castillo, Ream, Torres and Edu. Beckerman and Clark? Not so much. Glad to hear that Lichaj’s exclusion was due to injury…
Hopefully Timmy doesn’t have to borange all the way to training.
Maybe there’s some info I don’t have here, but…where’s Clint?
Clint needs a break. It looks like it’s mostly NA based players. Although it’s odd the majority of the Euros are in Germany, which starts this weekend. Klinsy is just getting a feel for some people, this isn’t necessarily what he thinks our best squad is.
Clint is in pre-season/Europa League. Fulham probably said ‘hells to the no.’
No worries with Clark, time to turn the page and all that I suppose. Happy to see MLS MVP (get used to it) Brek Shea invited. Never been a Heath Pearce guy.
Am I the only one who likes that Beckerman is involved? I like him. And yes, Dempsey/Fulham were in Europa League action today. With EPL so close, I can see why they wouldn’t release him
@JT: I’m all for Beckerman’s hair and using him against CONCACAF minnows in WCQ. Not sure how I feel about him being looked at seriously, but if he performs well I’ll welcome him with open arms. Glad to see a keeper that’s not Guzan or Hahnemann as a back-up, though I thought Yelldell might get another one but I suppose the German league is more important. I honestly don’t know who our no. 2 keeper is and I guess that’s a good thing. I wonder what our formation will be, seems like there’s a lot of options there.
Would have preferred Bunbury or Gomez over Adu or Buddle, but all in all, it’s nice to see some fresh faces.
Other than Ricky Clark and Beasley, I am well pleased with this. THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING YOU CAN USE HISPANICS LIKE CASTILLO AND FISCAL.
In Clark’s defense, when he was moved to play CB at Eintracht prior to his injury last season, he was looking good there as opposed to being in the midfield.
