UF EPL Predictions

We all hooked up to this machine to get our predictions for the league table.

Well, we’ve had our haiku previews for each club, our roundtable preview and we actually have given you ouor team-by-team predictions for final league positions but here are our predictions in full. It’s an aggregate of thirteen expert soccer opinions random soccer blowhards’ opinions. Feel free to mock and/or contribute your own predictions in the comments below.

Just a few notes about the average scores.

  • Manchester United was the clear favorite for the championship.
  • Liverpool and Arsenal were less than two-tenths apart.
  • Spots eight through thirteen were all fairly close in average. Withing 2.5 from highest to lowest.
  • The three relegation teams were all pretty solidly in the relegation zone. Only two people picked Wolves and Swansea to stay up. Four had QPR staying up–barely.
  • What’s all this mean? Who knows and who cares…the season is about to start.

    3. Lennon's Eyebrow

My predictions depend entirely on Modric staying, Arry buying a striker (literally any striker), Fabregas and Nasri leaving, and Arsenal not signing Tevez.

      @Brian: Bold. I like it.

    6. @LE: good caveats. I don’t think Tevez is going to Arsenal though.

    7. MP

@Brian: Seems like everyone else took the easy way out, while you chose to predict a complete restructure of the entire Premier League in which only 19 teams finish the season. Very bold indeed.

    8. Lennon's Eyebrow

I don’t either. I’m assuming all the rest of those things are happening too. But man that Nasri/Tevez swap suggestion scared the shit out of me. A weakened Arsenal is our best chance to get back to the CL. I’d honestly say that Arsenal + Tevez makes a run for the title, even without Nasri and Fabregas, and assuming Wilshere and Ramsey stay healthy. Is that ridiculous?

    9. I think it is given Arsenal’s backline and keeper situation.

    10. georger

Wouldn’t Tevez’s wages double anyone at Arsenal? Yeah I can see that happening.

    11. I can’t wait until the first “Kenny Out” comment from Georger this season. It’s like the first bloom of spring for Liverpool’s season.

    12. Ryan

Georger, the rumor was that City would pay half for the first year. Either way, not happening.

Terrifyingly, my predictions for the top 6 are the same as UFs. I have nailed City’s finish the past two seasons though.

    13. Ryan

Oh, one more half complaint/half prediction: A promoted side will get off to a fast start will spend some time in the top half of the table. Everyone will greet this as a shocking occurrence, even though it has happened the past three seasons.

    16. Ah, Brian is obviously high. Or maybe just fantasizing about moyes having an actual transfer budget.

    17. georger

I’m blaming everything on Damien, he’s French and reeks of both Spurs and Arsenal, easy enough.

Also, Brian, drinking Sterno is not a good idea.

      Bold choices made here.

    19. jjf3

      For grins and shits:

      1-Chelski
      2-United
      3-Citeh
      4-Liverpool
      5-Arsenal
      6-Spurs
      7-Fulham
      8-Sunderland
      9-Stoke
      10-WBA
      11-Everton
      12-Bolton
      13-Newcastle
      14-Aston Villa
      15-Blackburn
      16-Wolves
      17-Norwich
      18-QPR
      19-Wigan
      20-Swansea

One last run by the old-timers at Spartak under the new boss, while United rejiggers and Citeh’s performance gets hurt by the swirling whirlpool of Tevez, Mario and Mancini’s tactics. Wouldn’t surprise me if the winning point total is less than last year, and goal differential plays a role several times in the top 5 positions…

    20. Han-ball

I know I’m officially a day late, but oh well.

      1. United
      2. Citeh
      3. ‘Pool
      4. Chelsea
      5. Arsenal
      6. Everton
      7. Spurs
      8. Fulham
      9. Aston Villa
      10. Sunderland
      11. Stoke
      12. Bolton
      13. West Brom
      14. Newcastle
      15. Wolves
      16. Norwich
      17. Blackburn
      18. Wigan
      19. Swansea
      20. QPR

The hardest position to pick here was I think 6th, with nobody seeming to have the quality to really fill the role, so Everton gets it by default. I feel like Fulham are too high on my table as well, but again, dont see who would fill up there. Bolton, newcastle, wigan all regressed IMO, and Sunderland can’t play all the new signing at once.

I also think City will be top come christmas, and at some point will have at least a 4 point gap on second (probably united) but throw it away later.
